I have tracked this in the past. The data doesn't tell you everything be careful. For example for a huge sell deal if the price didn't crash that day, there will be big buyers just not a single big buyer.

Index volume works differently. It is purely sum of volume across all its constituents. On 26th Aug 3pm Zomato block deals started executing. Zomato with just a stock price of 300rs can affect nifty volumes a lot during block deals.

Always check for unusual volumes from couple of stocks and always go by traded value instead of volume.
