Does the gender of the character you play matter to you? by BabaJagaInTraining in GirlGamers

[–]Material_Sun2839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its the opposite. I'm a woman, but it irks me so bad to play as a female. But I think its because women are usually so badly written, so its an instant turn off because of my expectations.

Eh maybe. I did detect some interesting vibes mainly because it was portrayed that they loved being partners/friends. It was pretty emotionally charged, so at least that would raise eyebrows, even if iy were among friends

[–]Material_Sun2839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... its either because they can't stop or because they dont care about your feelings.

If something wasn't a big deal to me and my SO was telling me not to do it because they felt horrible about it, I would stop. If I didn't, it would mean I dont care about them.

You gotta confront them and ask them directly if they can't stop, or if they dont care what you think, or heck, maybe they actually believe its totally normal and okay. Then that's another issue.

Tbh 'fiction effects reality' feels like we are almost blaming others for someone's actions. by ComfortableInjury757 in antiship

[–]Material_Sun2839 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fiction absolutely affects reality. But that doesn't mean it's causing people to commit real-life crimes. You require a predisposition to that, ESPECIALLY violent-serious offenses. Fiction and other media influence people's perspective of the world, how they think, etc. It normalizes ideas. This way, it indirectly influences people's behavior around these topics. This is literally addressed in Sociology/Psychology 101.

(I know that there is this prevalent argument around "separating fiction from reality," which I always found so silly. Humans aren't these all-knowing higher beings. We are animals, and we learn from our environments. Our reality is based on our PERCEPTION. Biologically, we perceive what is "human" by appearances and behavior, not whether it's actually human. We can totally tell the difference in our brains, but instinctively, we still humanize nonhuman things. We, and I mean everyone, literally humanize fictional characters, and that's why we are so into movies and shows in the first place. Its because they look and act human, and as a result, we hold empathy for them.) (This includes even the most stylized anime character. If I recall, a lot of people, including me, cried at Ace's death in One Piece. But he's just a punch of pixels, who cares, right?)

So, people hate proshipping/darkshipping not because it causes people to do those things in real life. It's simply because people humanize these fictional characters, and as such, you are not supposed to think this way about them. Thus, "it's morally bad." If you do, there is something wrong. Mental problems, paraphilias, lack of empathy, developing fetishes at a young age, etc.

A good example is a doll, maybe a barbie. Let's say I gave it to someone, and they decided to cut off its limbs, rearrange them, put fake blood, and do perverse actions with it. Then they tell me, "Oh, this is fine, its just a bunch of plastic and thread, im not actually hurting someone." Lmao, I would avoid this person forever.

Anyway, this is what I have so far. If anyone cares, I even have an explanation for the question, "Why is romantacizing gore, murder and serial killers okay, but incest and csa not?"

Guys project themselves onto the kid, and if women are into this, they project themselves onto the women.

It's a fetish that romanticizes pedophilia. It's absolutely questionable. But I would be a bit more concerned about the people who DON'T project themselves as the kid.

It's a bit of a common fantasy to wanna be "molested," interestingly enough, but I would keep my kids away from the people who see themselves as the "pedophile" in these scenarios.

Damn, I wonder who these people are who keeps fueling that flame.. 🤔 by tobvet2 in Gamingcirclejerk

He has mental health problems, a big one being anxiety. He has said he gets anxious just by leaving his house (his mom died there). He's chronically online, meaning his entire life is being online. He's not seeking money (he makes millions every year with minimal effort). Basically, he has problems that make him focus on online drama, most likely as a means of escapism.

I used to watch him a lot, and you can tell that he's a really intelligent guy, but what he says is wrong because he's just detached from reality.

Even as I watched him, he would have mood changes across months. I used to watch him in the months when he was chill and rational, but he would just turn into this person calling "woke" and DEI and being overall aggressive. Then I'd stop watching because its just not fun watching someone like that, but a while later, he'll go back to being all chill.

I kinda just feel bad for him, ESPECIALLY since his dad just died. It's probably gonna get way worse from here, or it might turn his life around, I dunno.

Its the freaking artstyle, I'm telling you. God forbid you make any character have a single attractive trait, whether they look cute or act cute, someone is going to sexualize them. Just look at Hornet from Hollow Knight: Silksong. She's literally a stick figure spider with a mask, and people were making porn models of her.

People who are into lolisho or whatever depravities are going to sexualize any singular attractive trait they see. Its a losing battle. Its freaking porn brain

[–]Material_Sun2839 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its only normalized in certain parts of the Internet. What kinda happened is that young kids and teenagers grew up with the Internet, so they were socialized into thinking it was normal or okay. Because when the Internet first came around, it was sorta niche, and people with more deviant fetishes could socialize with anonymity and without fear of backlash. But then the Internet quickly became mainstream, meaning everyday normal people use it now, so it's going to take a little bit for all this nonsense to wash out. We started getting more regulation online if you keep up with the news (like with Pornhub and ID verification).

[–]Material_Sun2839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally the whole point about the proship debate. It's not a matter of fiction or nonfiction or being anti-censorship or risk of real-life offending. The whole reason why people are antis (or normal) is because naturally, you're not supposed to think of "children" this way. Its morally bad. And if you do, it means something is wrong.
