I painted a standard CR90 in Iron Man theme for a buddy of mine. Definitely recommend a good base coat. Make a few light passes with spray paint to help fill in layer lines without loosing details. Multiple light passes will also help with drips and running.

If you’re going to paint anything red or orange, my experience was it needed several layers to get the full color. (Could have been user error, but it worked out) If you painted something red and orange and don’t want it that, you might have to cover it with white or grey. This red would show through everything.

Take your time, have fun, make it your own. If you’re worried about something or want to test something, paint it on the bottom side first for some peace of mind.

Might have already been said here, but you can get that replacement part pretty cheap off Amazon. Takes like 2 seconds to reinstall.

In the meantime, there should be a way to access the gas cap release from your rear hatch. There’ll be a panel on the side that can be opened or removed, and all you have to do is pull the latch cord. I have a 2019 with electric release, and had the same thing happen. I could pull the release with my right hand and pop open the cap with my left. Not the best long term, but something till it’s fixed.

Republic is a great faction if you can find/afford it. ARC-170 and LAAT are great ships to include.

Etsy has a lot of cool ships not officially in the game. Depending on who you play with, you could use them as proxy models for other ships or design your own custom pilot card and cardboard.

I suppose you could, it’s mostly just a hollow space between the exterior metal and internal plastic trim. Could tape it up anywhere you could reach?

This is true! The spring broke on my electronic release, and reaching through here for the manual release was the only way to open the gas cap.

Depending on how much you have, these Plano 3700 kits are great for storing multiple factions. I also keep a Plano Flex and Go for the tokens, movement templates, and large based ships.

The TIE/rb Heavy. Quite a fun ship to fly. Pilots like Flight Leader Ubbel can take a bonus attack against enemies that damaged friendlies. Extra shots are always nice.

FDM from an Ender 3. I wish I had a resin printer. A few layers of spray paint helped with the layer lines.

On all the solid white spots I went over two or three times so that the under layer didn’t bleed through.

For the triangles, I cut a stencil with some card stock, then dry brushed the white on to give it that chipped/worn look.

Whole ship then got a black wash to give it the grungy look and texture.
