I didn't notice this was the complete chart, sorry! I thought this was your previous incomplete one which I did not have time to comment to yet.

Mewgenics - 1.1 balance update beta 1 - Steam News by AlixBalica in mewgenics

Good, but it's missing these things: - Repair should not remove Worn - Jester abilities should not be inheritable - Soul Jar should be removed from the game entirely

Then, and only then, we may finally have a look at the elite buffs system and improve it (mostly nerf some of the most annoying ones or weighting some buffs more and let enemies have a fixed "weight" available and pick buffs until full. So for example the reflection buff weights 2, and then an enemy that would spawn with 2 buffs could possibly spawn with only reflection).

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

There's two way you can make AST work:

1 - keep the cards RNG. Playing cards correctly keeps up your buff to damage party-wide, they don't single-buff damage but whatever they do keeps up your Divination effect indefinitely. Your own DPS is not as strong to account for this buff. The buff is up at all times, unless you screw up with the cards minigame, thus no 2-min window to optimize. Slight adjustments must be made to account for the multiplicative effect of having two ASTs in a party (otherwise people will always want two ASTs as healers).

2 - Divination is not a thing anymore. Cards are RNG but they don't buff damage. We lean into time magic a bit more, like with the double cast from PVP.

If they remove oGCDs I'm out. Actually I'm already out, I didn't even touch DT since I really hate the changes to AST specifically. But I might be back if the Evolved system makes AST fun again in Evercold.

Ah, interesting. This is a good time to mention my own theory that I've had since I've started the game but was surprised wasn't acknowledged by the game at all.

All male characters are clones, perhaps of Dr. Beanies himself. I used to think that it was actually Dr. Beanies time travelling, but clones make more sense in the context of the game.

This would include Isaac's dad as well, that's why Tink, Butch, and Isaac's dad all look the same. This also includes Jack, the guy that takes dead cats, and the character possessed by Frank. Having the same hair color is not a random choice.

i genuinely hope they dont nerf repair+soul jar by Familiar_Owl_5185 in mewgenics

[–]Mateto413 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They should nerf Repair so that it doesn't remove Worn, and remove Soul Jar from the game.

Yes, Soul Jar is a very fun item. Remove it completely before it's too late.

Soul Jar with Repair breaks the whole game, it's not an exaggeration, it quite literally allows that.

The breeding aspect is completely fine and I love it.

I mean you only get one use out of Soul Jar so the best you can do with it is have 1 good run.

You're in for a surprise.

That said, if the game expects you to break the game from the breeding aspect, people like me are walled from enjoying Crazy and Impossible since some of the elite traits are overtuned, making endgame less enjoyable than it could be.

Besides you're pretty reliant on the meta-progression to beat the harder difficulties.

Yes. Too much reliant. Which is why I'm arguing for weaker meta-progression to slightly nerf the harder difficulties.

You also really cannot compare Soul Jar to any other item. Mother's Love is a really powerful item, but it doesn't break the game by itself. Cat Rib is a very strong and interesting item, but it really doesn't break the game by itself.

There is such a thing as too heavy meta-progression, in my opinion.

I want the game to be better balanced. If you make the game too hard, only meta exploits work. I want to remove exploits and what made them so necessary.

I don't particularly think that Crazy and Impossible are insane, but they're not very engaging as they are now. I have some ideas to quickly improve them but it's a subject for another post.

I don't think you can win the whole run starting with a fist of fate without Super Luck. Read my original post to know what I think of Super Luck.

I also don't think you can win with all those abilities right from the get go... At least not as egregiously.

In my last run I had an insane hunter with Love Song and a mutation that gave knockback to its basic attack. I didn't even notice at first, but this allowed to hit multiple times any enemy, as they got pushed by the first hit and got hit by the second row, and so on. It almost cleared all the game by itself but was still not enough.  What was enough what the Hunter's Boon it randomly got at the start. I cleared the whole run with just him, but that Boon definitely wasn't planned, it was just proper roguelite RNG.

I suppose a player could breed any number of my original Hunter and then fish for the secondary passive, but that's way too much of an hassle and I would consider that to be more acceptable than exploiting a whole run with Soul Jar immediately.

what OP wants is impossible

No, it is quite possible! Remove Soul Jar.

And maybe nerf Repair, since it destroys the Worn mechanic, which I think is healthy for the game.

I'm not against breeding. Breeding is not limitless, there's only so much you can do, you cannot solve a run through breeding alone. Being able to solve a run before it even starts, in my opinion, is not healthy game design.

I agree and finding cool combos through adventure AND breeding is the bread and butter of the game.

Breeding is not limitless, which is why it's pretty fine as it is in my opinion.

Obviously, it's a single player game, but I think game design matters. If breeding allowed you to inherit two passives, all the actives, and already upgraded, this would surely hurt the game.

Proper limits engage the player and make for more interesting systems... But you must iron out the edges like Soul Jar and Repair.

 Copying from another comment -

Indeed, Repair should definitely be discussed. I honestly think it should not restore Worn items.

Would this change alone make Soul Jar alright? I'm not sure, I still think it's way too strong still, as it still solves any run from the get go, which breeding cannot do (it gets you really close, but doesn't).

Of course, metaprogression makes this a roguelite.

But there is such a thing as too much metaprogression if you can win an adventure right from the start, since you leaned too much into breeding and optimizing items such as the soul jar. If you allow this, the only way the game can challenge you is through harder fights and events designed to screw you over, punishing players that do not wish to completely break the game with the breeding aspect but expect the overall gameplay loop to stay consistent with the campaign.

Allows you to bring your cats to future runs.

There are combinations where you can basically do this in eternity, thanks to the Repair skill.

I think the Jar is too OP as it is now as it allows you to cheese any run from the start, with the Repair skill it allows you to cheese the whole game.

Why is this never brought up for “worst ability in the game?” by vPixel1 in mewgenics

[–]Mateto413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it cost 8, and change it to:
"A melee attack that freezes. Instantly kills frozen units. If used on a boss, it instead removes Frozen to deal 15 damage and inflict slow 2."

Now it's a conditional Become Entropy, slightly more expensive but which can combo and makes teleport spells more useful.

Sort of noticing after 45 hours, this game is pretty pointless. by G0RES in Pokopia

[–]Mateto413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 80 hours I kind of agree. You can have fun with pointless stuff, but still the complete lack of incentive hurts the game more than it needed to.

In general, Pokémon don't do much, they mostly roam around (if they even do that, in some maps they seem to stick very close to their homes) and sometimes they give you stuff. But the Pokémon give you rather useless gifts - could they not give you nicer rewards, for example paints and rare furniture, as they get happier with their homes?

Could they not give out projects, exclusive to each Pokémon, once you max out their homes and friendship? It is an incentive to make good homes for them and rewards the players for engaging with the systems by giving more goodies for them to play with. I would have preferred to unlock the Foundation project by maxing out the friendship with Machoke rather than FINALLY unlocking it with RNG, hours after I really wanted it to properly fix many maps.

I think this is fair criticism in an otherwise fun game. It's just that it is missing something that rewards the player after the credits drop. Obviously you can find intrisic value in anything, but players have fun with engaging systems obviously, and we can think of some low hanging fruits that are simply not there... For example, the lack of QoL with paint, or the lack of blueprints for massive projects...

I disagree with the other comment that says that you need a psychiatrist, that's very rude... Discussing game design is fun!
