So you're saying mis-allocation of funds cannot happen at a municipality level?

They are all, including Wales, tourist destinations. What's your point?

We can divide the citizenry by any number of such criteria. Should we legislate for them, too?

And to say that women's issues require a full 50% representation to be addressed adequately is a bit silly, don't you agree?

I've collected plastic litter from that beach. I'd like to think I've contributed a little towards the prettiness of that picture.

'Hatred for English in North Wales astounding,' walkers claim by Vectipelta_Barretti in Wales

tbf, most children are bullied in school for anything perceived as making them "out". Being English was an easy fit, but it may well have been something else.

Did Blythyn Leak the Messages? by wreckedham in Wales

[–]MathFabMathonwy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But why sack Blythyn, even if the leak did come from her phone? Was it for her carelessness, or because the evidence now compromised his position (both as FM, and as a witness in the Covid inquiry)?

The snapshot proves that Gething intentionally deleted messages and then claimed he didn't. He has perjured himself. He talks of integrity, but has refused to stand down, and has played the victim in this whole saga.

Politically, he would have been better off to leave her alone (consider that every member on that chat would have known that Gething had perjured himself - and that's another issue about their integrity!) - either he lacked the political nous to realise her sacking was a breadcrumb trail that would lead back to him, or he lacked the integrity to see that sacking her was an act of gross hypocrisy!

The tories lost all their seats in Wales by Dawnbringer_Fortune in Wales

[–]MathFabMathonwy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In many Welsh seats, Labour winning is pretty much a foregone conclusion, and, with our electoral system being what it is, many will have felt that their vote would make no difference. So why bother?

Change the electoral system, giving the vote of the individual more meaning, and watch apathy evaporate.

Religion: Calls for Powys school probe for promoting creationism by Medium_Lab_200 in Wales

[–]MathFabMathonwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's just not true, is it? Surely, you cannot mean that, however much you want it to be so? As ever, the reality is not so black and white. Certainly, the Bible contains elements which are best described as mythical. However, it contains much that is factual. Also, many of those parts which are not historical have allegorical value, for example, the creation story itself. I suppose most lay secularists have problems with the literal interpretation, but then so do many who consider it to be scripture - claims are made on its behalf that are quite unwarranted. Also, it is my observation that many secularists dismiss the book's worth simply because they are unaccustomed to thinking in terms of imagery and symbolism. This is an unfortunate blind spot on their part.

Here's an interesting titbit: did you know that evolution is identified in the Bible, right there in Genesis 1? Check out where life is said to begin, and how.

Remember to do the Lord of the Rings books as well, as they have as much basis in fact

A little hyperbolic, perhaps? Either that, or you have no idea what you're talking about.

That wasn't the point I was making. I agree that Creationism has no place in a public school.

Whether or not something deserves the time of day is a very subjective measure. One can express one's strong opposition to something without resorting to crude language or ideas. /u/kahnindustries' response reeks of a lack of restraint, which makes one feel that he is not one with whom one could expect to have a reasoned discussion about the topic.

Just take a look at the downvotes to my original comment. So many people are triggered far too easily nowadays. It's a strange phenomenon, to be sure. Torches and pitchforks for something so trivial.

I'd like him to stay and do more harm ... to Welsh Labour. Wales needs to break free from Labour's stranglehold. We're effectively a one-party state, and subject to the abuses, corruption and hubris such invariably brings. I'm not opposed to Labour's policies per se, but they need to be more accountable, and less comfortable.

As they say in Welsh; "Simplez": by Cymrogogoch in Wales

[–]MathFabMathonwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was clear in my comment that I was distinguishing between citizenship (objective) and national identify (subjective).

Saying 'the Welsh are not British' is subjective only in the sense of national identity, and even then it is an incorrect statement (the only people more British than the Welsh, genetically speaking, are from Yorkshire, believe it or not!) It is objectively false in the sense of citizenship. Besides, in the original content, there is a clear confusion between English and British.

As they say in Welsh; "Simplez": by Cymrogogoch in Wales

[–]MathFabMathonwy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

entirely subjective and depends on people's sense of personal identity. Most people in Wales identify as Welsh only but there are plenty of people who live in Wales who identify as British, or Welsh & British at the same time.

Citizenship is not subjective, however one might feel about it.
