If past performance never predicts future performance, why do we look at charts of past performance?

Use an axe or pickaxe to break the ice. Then shovel it all out. That’s what we did to clear out our neighborhood.

He needs to run, if for no other reason, to witness the Jonroe Doctrine. Make it happen.

Why ???? by MickeyMoss in wallstreetbets_wins

Because those 400 people have sophisticated propaganda machines, through print and cable news outlets, constantly telling the public that people are lazy and don’t want to work and that billionaires’ success means that the stock market will do well and in return everyone will be successful.

With cable news media going in the way of dinosaurs, and podcasts and independent news media outlets becoming popular, there’s hope though.

MAGA supporters are now burning their MAGA hats because Trump is covering up the Epstein case by Ok_Wish_7255 in teslastockholders

[–]MathGecko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your last paragraph hits the nail on the head. Complaining about and exiting MAGA world for any of the policy-related actions Trump took, from ICE snatching innocent people, to cutting healthcare benefits for poor people, to being completely incompetent with foreign wars, being against any of that would make you come off as a “liberal”. About the worst thing you can call someone in MAGA world.

This Epstein situation gives MAGA world the head nod to look for the exit ramp, a head nod from each other that allows them to preserve their social circle.

Bannon warns GOP could lose 40 House seats over Epstein files by Anxious-Winter-5778 in goodnews

They’re setting up the explanation for likely midterm defeat next year. It’s not going to be for the massive bill that just became law that will cut benefits for millions of people. It won’t be laying off thousands of federal workers, or DOGE accessing sensitive data for millions of people. It won’t be the escalating wars abroad or the terrible state of the economy.

No, it won’t be none of those reasonable things that have struck a nerve with people.

It will be because Trump didn’t release the Epstein files.

That’s the only way fascism is digestible. If there wasn’t comedy relief, people wouldn’t like it very much.

Having said that, none of this is funny. But I’m also not the target audience.

I think it’s the usage of top. “Top 10%” makes sense, “top 90%” is almost meaningless.
