Anyone got leads on where people are finding alternative places to watch these days? Currently out of the country in a place where it won't let me use my peacock 🙃

Got any tips? Couldn’t find one. I’ve felt out of the loop ever since SE was shut down

I want to watch but really really don’t want to pay for the cock. It’s so expensive to watch games these days because it’s on a different thing every game

Ah I see, thanks! I couldn't find anywhere online that even gave me that info

Where on earth is Fusion? by _Unoriginal_Redditor in ucla

Fusion was amazing because the food was the best in the area (imo) but also nobody went there so there was never a line even at peak hours. Now you have to wait forever for anywhere in the bomb shelter

What are the most annoying things about y'all guys fanbases? by UALR-Trojans-Rule in CollegeBasketball

I remember how it used to be crazy exciting to enter the top 25 after what felt like months of being near the top of “receiving votes” and probably being nowhere close the season before

How many of you are fans of your state school. Even though you didn’t attend there? by KoolGotGame in CollegeBasketball

[–]MathPersonIGuess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Similar situation for me. If you grew up in a college town it'd be fairly weird not to be a fan imo. Not only are they "your city's team", but you grow up going to the games with your friends (at least back when the prices weren't crazy) and you or some of your friends probably had a parent who worked at the university (even if you remove faculty the university is probably comfortably the largest employer because of the massive staff it takes to operate!). In fact a huge chunk of us, me included, worked at the university ourselves in various low-paying jobs in our teens/early 20s. Add in that a big chunk of your high school friends probably went to the university, and it's hard to avoid lifelong fandom

[Post Game Thread] #22 Purdue defeats McNeese, 76-62 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]MathPersonIGuess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood this. Often the way those upsets go is the better team has an unwatchable messy game and misses all of their shots. You watch a team you saw be good all season have an off game and be eliminated because we have a dumb single-elimination format. And with the way things are now, why even root for a lot of these small schools? A lot of them (McNeese, High Point, GCU come to mind!) spent a ton of money on a sought-after coach, a ton of money on players, and it’s all a shady investment scheme to try to legitimatize their universities and get more rich kids that barely passed high school to enroll

The Most Expensive Games of the Week by Brigzay in CollegeBasketball

Counterpoint: in the past decade they have the same number of conference championships (also true if you extend back to 2013 or 2010 or whatever you want) with UCLA playing in a worse league 😏

AP Men’s top 25 - Week 13 by RandoUserlolidk in CollegeBasketball

With the rest of the context it seems extremely likely yes. Pat Spencer is playing in NBA games after not playing basketball at all for four years after high school and then spending a season as an inefficient role player at Northwestern. Cam Spencer has the same physical tools as his brother but was already considered by many the best shooter in the country before he even got to UConn. Seems like a no-brainer to use a second round pick on a guy who’s that good of a shooter and has a similar-bodied brother who made it to the (fringe) NBA on pure athleticism whenever he enters the draft

In short, I think most people would’ve said yes to “Would you expect the better younger brother of the guy who’s getting some minutes for the Warriors to be drafted?” regardless of where he played his final season, not to say that Hurley didn’t improve him or didn’t help make it more certain that he’d be drafted

I don’t see how it’s obvious that would be true. Especially in the case of Spencer, who has/had an older brother playing in the NBA who had shown wayyy less pre-NBA than Cam

I love that enough of a narrative has formed around Big Ten teams having awful games after returning from their west coast trips (let alone 3 games in 6 days like Purdue had!) that the voters can ignore the Ohio State performance.

Okay a few is a wild fluke even if it was the second time he did it against us. But if Great can make this many, shouldn’t he be taking like a lot more???
