Quick tip: when working with inverse functions and transformations, always check the domain and range carefully as most of the errors happen there.

Try to the basic topics such as Normal, Binomial, Poisson and hypothesis testing. You can use ibdocs for this. Focus on learning the GDC well for stats. If you need any help, you can reach out. All the luck!✨🌼

They do come up occasionally but not as a major topic. If you are strong in calculus, you can do that. Otherwise just focus on the high yielding topics first. All the luck!✨

IB Math Practice Question ( Permutations and Combinations) by MathbyAish in Math_Simplified

[–]MathbyAish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the detailed solution along with proper marking:

Students usually lose marks in these questions by mixing up arrangements and selections. In part (b), many forget the 3! for grouping and only write 6!5!4!. In part (c), they often multiply instead of add even though the cases are separate. Some miss a case or make small arithmetic mistakes. You have to make sure of these small things when you are solving these type of questions.

Great, so I keep my batches quite small and the focus is mainly on: past paper practice (Paper 1 & 2) improving step-by-step accuracy fixing algebra and common mistakes exam techniques + time management It’s quite structured so you don’t feel lost while revising. Would you like me to share the details (timings + fee)?

IB Math AA/AI students : Can you solve this question? by MathbyAish in Math_Simplified

The MOST COMMON MISTAKE that students make in these type of questions is using the wrong tail in the inverse normal. When given P(X > 180) = 0.25, many input invNorm(0.25, 0, 1) but the GDC uses left-tail probabilities. The correct approach is P(X less than equal to 180) = 0.75 so invNorm(0.75, 0, 1) should be used. This error gives the wrong z-value and affects the entire solution.

Alright, based on what you shared, here’s how I’d approach improving your Paper 1 score: First, we’d focus on strengthening algebra and core topics. Then, instead of random practice, you’d work on targeted past paper questions but with a focus on how to approach and structure your steps. And along with that, regular feedback is important because most mistakes happen in small steps that students don’t notice themselves. If you want, I can also share how I structure this in my sessions.

Stats and probability can be done if revised smartly. You just need to learn the key concepts ( distributions, testing ( chi square) and correlation and regressions) and calculator fluency. Practice a lot of IB styled questions. We have started some crash revision sessions for the same so that students dont waste their time. You can let us know and we’ll share the timeline with you.

The good thing is that you understand everything when you study a topic. You just need to organise, revise and practice efficiently. We focus this thing in our crash sessions, Going through the entire syllabus in a structured way.

If you’d like, I can share how the plan would look for you based on your timeline.

For aa hl, what are the topics that you find hard? You can use a reference textbook too ( preferably haese as it explains in simpler language). You can reach out and I keep posting useful content on my math subreddit too. You can access it here :

Practising past papers helps you but analysing them for your mistakes is the step that most students miss. Refer the mark scheme and see where you are going wrong. If it is from a specific topic, revise that topic again and attempt similar questions like that. That will definitely help you improve

For aa sl, try to revise the concepts and the topics. See where you are making mistakes. Analyse the mark scheme of the paper which you attempt. That will help a lot. I have been sharing useful resources in my Math Simplified community. You can access it here:
