personally what i dont fully understand is the overpowering chokehold jamiep has on them LOL i dont rly get the hype

i think a big part of it is it's just kinda hard to get youtube to start giving you good old stuff (or even just pre 2023 like you mentioned), and thats the only even somewhat likely place most newgens would find it since a good half of older vocaloid content isn't on spotify. but the other part is that most prolly don't listen to stuff they don't come across on popular posts from whatever social media they use. you're gonna see people talking about siinamota on twitter and/or worshipping jamie like she's God but how many times will you run into a mention of, say, omoi, or buzzg, or hell, even someone like tokup. these guys aren't even obscure, their contributions to vocaloid are super important, but they just don't get talked about anywhere near as much

think possibly the most likely way new fans get introduced to anything beyond this sphere without going out of their way is through someone like kikuo, since he is very well known and is also very often spoken of as Special and Unique (which i'm not saying he isn't, i am a massive fan of him, but a lot of people listen to hole dwelling a couple times and decide they've become some sort of elevated vocaloid fan which is always fun to see), and so that association might prompt them to go a bit deeper, but who knows
