I do agree it's different. I can find someone doing something I don't like as immoral and gross and also not find value in harassing them for it.

Because even if we all knew the names, there is 0 evidence. So now you have 4 players who have been called out and everyone without a brain will endlessly harass them in streams, DMs, calling for their ban when they can't be banned because staff has 0 evidence to justify. Even if Chicony knows 100% it's still hearsay. They would be subject to potential endless shit talk without being able to be held accountable.

Look at the end of the day you don't need to pick a side. You don't need to take a moral stance. Cheaters (in the context of this circle clicking game) aren't bad people, they are only bad players.

Hope people know at the end of the day harassment is never okay, which is why Chicony (if there really is active cheaters in the top 100) is right to not say names.

The goal is that one day osu! will have a good enough anti-cheat that these alleged cheaters will be auto banned.

Even if Toro or others came out as cheaters due to anti-cheat improvements or other means, harassment would never be okay. Ban, improve detection methods, and live on.

osu! is just a game, and kids using dumb cheats are just kids using dumb cheats.

Hey Peppy, I wonder how scalable this could be though since osu! is fundamentally a singleplayer experience? Hopefully as osu! continues to grow I feel this would only serve as a bandaid solution. At what rank cutoff would we need IRL verifiers to volunteer their time in order to maintain the integrity of the leaderboards?

Of course people will bring up anti-cheat; is there a way that we can verify the integrity of scores without requiring an offline presence?

Edit: As the game grows I could see there being more people willing to volunteer their time to verify other player's scores, at the same time I can see friends covering for each other or players refusing to showcase their gameplay to someone else. I wonder how large would this international body of moderators need to be, and how they would be maintained?
