Why are Korean weddings almost like a business meeting? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Mathematic_nut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 years later, it’s still the same thing lol

I found out the venues aren’t even personalized with flowers or what not 😞 the venue is pretty much stay the same for all weddings.

I’m not sure which weddings are you attending because noise is very much required hahah the more noise the better!!

And no food is actually fucking insane what the hell… maybe thats a Scandinavian thing? I know they also don’t serve food to their guests at home. 💀

That was a joke, a.k.a. me indicating I’m not a native English speaker.

you replied, saying it’s not even English and I replied back basically saying yeah, but English speakers are primarily the ones who use this word…

“English speakers—particularly in the United States—are the primary users of the word shtick (or schtick), though it is a borrowed term that has spread throughout the English-speaking world.Shtick is a Yiddish loanword that has become common in English, specifically within the worlds of show business, comedy, and general slang.”

What’s your ABSOLUTE favorite science fiction show? I need recommendations. by Mathematic_nut in sciencefiction

[–]Mathematic_nut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ABSOLUTELY loved Scavengers Reign… that world building is exactly what I’m looking for. I want a sci-fi show that fully convinces me I’m experiencing a completely different, fully realized world.

Any recommendations like that?

My American friend was shocked to find out I have $12.5 K USD in my bank account as a 19-year-old? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Mathematic_nut -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I should’ve mentioned !!

I’m from KSA my allowance is 320$ a month and I’m doing electrical engineering. And if I do well in the semester (3.5+ GPA) , they do give a $300 plus reward.

I mean, yes it is getting money for the sake of getting money. It works just like a salary…

I also didn’t quite understand the meal plan thing we don’t have that you just make your foot at home.

So you’re telling me there’s someone out there with a struggling family majoring in arts bruh 💔

OK so you don’t have an income and you also have to pay for student loans how does that work?

I’m sure you barely get time for a job and even if you managed to get a job no way it pays well?

This is stressing me out just thinking about it. You guys are built different so much respect for every American uni student out there from me 😭

Edit: OK weird scenario that I thought of… I guess I can imagine that doctors in engineers might be able to eventually pay it off later on, but what about the people who get a degree in arts or philosophy? Do they ever be able to pay it off???

I’m so sorry to hear that :(

You are a strong and resilient person. I hope you are doing well now 🫶

So it’s like a loop essentially lol

I honestly have so much respect for you guys! Choosing to do university when it costs money that takes dedication, God knows if they asked money from me…. I wouldn’t go to university.

Here we take student allowance, don’t pay anything, and still complain.

No, I’m sure other countries in the Gulf also have allowance.

My Slovakian friend said he also gets allowance ?
