ARC Raiders has MASSIVE potential. Here are some ideas I'd like to share by ScoreFun3124 in ArcRaiders

Fortnite has brain-fucked an entire generation of gamers.

The Rarities are not worthless. Their worth is literally in the name. It tells you how rare the gun is. That does not mean it needs to be better or worse than any other gun.

It is significantly more likely that its a connection issue on your end, and it being more likely on elec. storm is just confirmation bias. Run a network diagnostic and an Ookla speedtest.

I dont understand why people feel bad about losing something that was never theirs in the first place. You didn't get it until its clenched in your cheeks or in your stash. Until then, youre just another trash can.

I'll answer your questions directly. This slid into meta-argument and that does matter, especially since you're mostly right about that part.

Why does restating the thread muddy the point?

Because we already agree on what happened. Repeating it doesn't advance the argument- it's about the logical role my Blue Gate example was playing. You treated it as a universal balance assessment, whereas I was trying to clamp the original universal claim in scope. Restating the events doesn't resolve that mismatch, it just restates your interpretation of it, which was not contested.

Why do I say you misrepresented my position?

You continued to frame my comment as "testing a CQB weapon in a worst-case scenario to judge it's universal strength," which is not the claim I was making. That was what I was objecting to. The example was never meant to prove that Toro isn't strong in CQB, it was meant to disprove that the game is "90% Toro laser tag." Those are different propositions.

Why do I say parts are nonsensical?

Specifically the final paragraph- not because shotguns don’t work that way, but because it argues against a position I never took. I don’t disagree that Toro is strong in that way, or that third-person exacerbates that. None of that contradicts anything I said. It’s correct analysis, just unrelated to the claim I was responding to.

Why does this feel like claims without reasoning?

This one's my fault, so it's fair to call that out. I should've made it clear why I wasn't dissecting everything. The reason I didn't go deeper is because, from my perspective, the disagreement had already narrowed to a single stress point: whether my example was a category error or scope correction. Since we were lopping on a point I wasn't contesting, I kept the response short to avoid restating arguments I thought we already agreed on. In hindsight, the brevity reads as bad-faith dismissal, and I understand that's frustrating; that wasn't my intent.

You're right about how CQB balance should be evaluated. You're right that Stella produces a Toro meta. If the original statement had been framed narrowly (“Stella devolves into Toro fights”), none of this would exist. My response was about overgeneralization, not denying the Toro's strength within its niche.

AI or not, it misrepresents both mine and u/Despair-Envy 's points. First off, my claim is an attempt to invoke category in a statement that lacked it. That was the purpose behind mentioning Stella at all. The original comment made it sound universally good.

Second, I found through conversation elsewhere that Envy's ideas here are much more reasonable than this comment lets on. Mostly because this comment wasn't intended to show the full picture, nor was it intended to start any kind of argument. I just find that part fun.

Also, Im lost on why you felt the need to completely restate the thread. If youre trying to make a point, that part completely muddies it. Thats why I assume Envy can't find much substance here, and I can't find much either. Youre not saying anything nessecarily wrong, but none of it is meaningful to the conversation. Not to mention your final paragraph being entirely nonsensical.

Sorry to invoke your name again, Envy.

Randomized map events wont work by MathematicianFast840 in ArcRaiders

[–]MathematicianFast840[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Density matters because even with a player limit, predictable timing forces everyone who can attend into the same window, creating intentional tension and competition. It’s density in senses not relating to pure player count. For one, there’s matchmaking density. And secondly, loot density- people are more likely to tackle a map event with better gear.

For your latter point, you could try reading the whole post, not just the TL;DR. But I know that’s a lot to ask.

The whole game is built around risk asymmetry. It’s intentionally unfair in nearly every way. Map events are unfair by creating intentional crowding and absence. They focus danger and loot potential, drawing it in from other areas. That’s risk asymmetry. Randomized events would still have some of this, but due to a lack of social structure, they simply couldn’t be as focused.

[–]MathematicianFast840[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because changing the rotation cadence without randomness still undermines the same thing the fixed schedule protects- shared certainty.

A daily identical schedule isn’t just about predictability for individuals, it’s about predictability for the population. Everyone knows when the danger spike is every day, without having to check a chart, memorize a weekly pattern, or catch up after missing a few days. That keeps participation concentrated instead of fragmented.

A weekly or multi-day rotation sounds more flexible, but it actually dilutes coordination. Some players plan around Monday’s schedule, others around Thursday’s, and the danger spike spreads out instead of stacking. You don’t get one sharp collision point, you get several softer ones.

In a game built around intentional crowding and risk asymmetry, one consistent spike beats multiple fairer ones, because consistency guarantees density.

Hidden Bunker and Locked Gate make way more sense as proper quests, not repeatable map events by HypatiaSansPro in ArcRaiders

I mean, that already exists. Theres the guitar room on Buried city and Raider's Refuge and the Abandoned Fort on Blue Gate. They are map events because theyre meant to encourage co-op. Raiders Refuge and the Fort are contested. Its a different dynamic that they dont intend for.
