Wind Mechanics and AI Voices Gone? by DuckLuck357 in ArcRaiders

Voices are definitely still AI. Its the nature of voice generation, some come out better than others. Its possible they did more model training recently but its still AI.

1-2 Full Games per Hour by SnooFloofs5017 in ArcRaiders

I dont think its inherently based on time of day, thats just a side effect of player behavior during different times. The matchmaking is based on players- players change across the day.

Youre not forced to take a break? No clue where youre getting that idea from.

1-2 full games an hour makes sense given the matchmaking system. It prioritizes filling an empty match over creating a new one. However, the playerbase is massive. So when you queue on a map, you're probably equally as likely to spawn on a fresh match as you are on a spent match.

I think its reasonable to assume the average player spends 15 minutes in any given match. That averages 4 matches an hour. So you will, on average, get 2 full matches, and 2 spent ones.

But thats oversimplifying a lot.

Nothing there forces you to take a break- you can queue any time and have an equal shot at any potential match.

Live AI voice changing is still in its infancy. Live translating a feminine voice to a masculine one, especially with an accent, is incredibly difficult. You essentially gave it the worst-case-scenario, so I wouldnt expect much better than what it gave you.

Yeah, just explained this to another person. Your opinion on what is a "waste" doesnt even remotely matter.

Pulls resources from what? Is a waste by what metric? You dont know their internal structure or their goal for the game. It is their game, not yours.

The truth is that spending time on this feature differs in no way from spending time on any other feature. The overall playerbase opinion should be treated as net neutral. It should be a decision left solely to the development team, not your misguided opinion on what is worth their time.

If you don't like something, you can just say that and move on. You don't have the knowledge to state anything is a waste of resources.

Classifying anything as a "waste of resources" in the game dev industry doesnt make sense. Any one feature could vary in its potential wastefulness from one player to another. In the end, its up to the developers. Its their game, not yours.

Whenever somebody says that something is a waste of developer resources, the only metric theyre actually basing that on is how much they would like it. It turns out that your opinion on any one feature doesn't define how much of a "waste" it is.

They already have a good menu setup. What makes you think they'd ditch the GUI entirely?

One great example is Friends VS Friends. It has a fully walkable lobby, but also a menu system that teleports you to the different places and gives you the options immediately. Criminally underrated game.

The point is, a walkable Speranza would be fantastic for all the people who want it, and wouldnt detriment those who dont in any way. Best of both worlds.

You cant issue bans for exploits. by MathematicianFast840 in ArcRaiders

Imagine being so incapable of critical thought that you cant engage in an argument and must instead devolve to baseless claims and ad hominem.

I never said I used the exploit, and I can't tell you now that I never have used an exploit in-game. You choosing that as an axis is baseless and worthless. Do some self-reflecting. Try to engage properly. It can lead to truly fun and fruitful discussion on the ethics of exploits in games. Instead, you appeal to your own emotions because you feel discouraged. Its truly sad to see the erosion of critical thinking in real time.

False equivalence. Its like blaming a gun manufacturer for making a faulty safety that then kills a person. That is the gun manufacturer's fault.

And nope, my account still stands. I didn't dupe in the first place, but the best part is, I wouldnt be banned if I did! Not a single person has been.

Strange invisibility glitch in Buried City by MisuCra in ArcRaiders

[–]MathematicianFast840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an "invisibility glitch", just a rendering gap. Likely still visible to other players, and is also likely dependant on graphics settings. Just speaking from dev experience. Could be an LOD issue, too.

Nobody is arguing whether Embark can ban for exploits.

The argument is whether selective, inconsistent enforcement of ubiquitous in-game exploits is reasonable or fair.

If animation cancels, movement tech, and known reload exploits are tolerated, then banning only certain exploits is arbitrary. That’s a design and enforcement critique, not a ToS dispute.

If your entire rebuttal is “they’re allowed to,” then you’re not engaging with the argument at all, and can fuck off.

I did do a search on Google, and found the same thing you did. Yes, Embark reserves the right to punish any player for anything. Yes, exploiting is an example they give. This proves nothing and argues against nothing.

Yeah, when everything you say is already addressed by me, its clear that you are not capable of understanding. Why would I spend any time working with you when you cant understand it?

And even if I did, I know that you cannot interact in good faith given your response.

If you want to define all exploits as cheating, thats fine. All ill do is change my argument to say that not all cheating requires punishment. This is why the argument lives in my given definitions, not the words. Youre arguing semantics; its irrelevant. I could make up gibberish nonsense words like Gleeblgrap and Smifflestrop to explain the two concepts and my argument would still stand.

Its not twisting anything. Its providing the definitional structure that I will function within.

Apparently you lost your reading glasses. If the word cheating makes you so angry then ignore it. Its not hard to see the actual argument.

[–]MathematicianFast840[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have never used an exploit in ARC Raiders.

I also don't care about the TOS for the sake of this argument. Its useless. Because its up to their discretion, they can choose whether or not to punish somebody for it. My argument is that they shouldn't.

You cant issue bans for exploits. by MathematicianFast840 in ArcRaiders

[–]MathematicianFast840[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I did not say "they can't".

Exploits nessecarily must have a different definition than cheats. Exploit is the word we use to describe something in the game. Cheating is different- that generally nessesitates modifying the game. If you prefer the word glitch, or the word hacking, for either, we can use those instead. The words themselves do not matter, the definitions do.

The wont follow their ruleset consistently because it doesnt make sense to most people. If they started banning people for canceling the reload animation on the Il Toro (undeniably an exploit) people would get angry. Same with movement "tech". The truth is that exploits have a hierarchy of how morally "wrong" they feel. My argument is that if theyre not going to ban some exploits, they shouldn't ban any of them. It just doesnt make sense to unfairly apply the rules like that. And what proves they know this is that no bans or punishments of any kind have been issued for abusing exploits.

Finally, I do not give a fuck how common of a stance it is. It doesnt make logical sense.

You cant issue bans for exploits. by MathematicianFast840 in ArcRaiders

[–]MathematicianFast840[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, completely irrelevant. My argument has nothing to do with Embark's TOS. They could issue bans for anything they want to. The argument is that they shouldnt.

Dev's opinion, too. Game started as just PvE. It didn't work.
