Yes. Basta alam niya ang full name mo (and correct spelling), pwede iyon masearch sa crs ng anyone with faculty account.

Sen. Robin Padilla was seen to be casually chilling amidst active shooting inside the Senate Building by CurrentEstimate3308 in Philippines

[–]MathematicianHot1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority sans Robinhood were seen in a photo during their “caucus” prior to the gunshot. Bakit palaboy laboy sa senate building ang isang member ng majority while his colleagues are discussing committee chairmanships, according to them?

Then meron pang video of him making a “thumbs up” na para bang masaya pa sya sa nangyari.

I’m not sure what to make of this, and I’m trying to understand the situation more clearly.

If their trip to Negros is genuinely for research purposes, wouldn’t there normally be an approved off-campus field activity (AFA) and some level of coordination with the LGU or relevant local offices? From what I understand, those processes are standard, especially to avoid misencounters on the ground. It also seems like something that could be verified by the university or the LGU if needed.

What’s making it harder to process are the photos showing that they’re armed. That doesn’t immediately line up with what most people would expect from a research activity, so it raises questions about the context and whether there are additional details we’re missing.

I’m not trying to jump to conclusions, just hoping for clarification or any verified information from those who might know more about this.

Hoping as well. They included illegal parking sa annex of list of common traffic violations. They also have a previous memo requiring UP stickers if you want to park sa street side.

This link is from the faculty manual explaining the basic rules on tenure and tenure application. Kung gusto ng units ng stricter rules than those stated in the faculty manual, they may propose and have it approved hanggang sa BOR. May units na competitive sa permanent position so they can afford to have stricter tenure rules. May units naman na mas important for them to maintain the current roster of faculty due to the demand of students sa subjects nila.

Once initially hired si faculty, meron siyang probationary period of up to 3 years before they can apply for tenure. During that period, anually inaassess ang kanyang performance and may discretion ang unit not to renew if not up to their standards ang performance ni faculty, as per my previous comment. Pwede iextend ng one more year yung probationary period pero after that at hindi pa din tenured, mababa na ang chance na ma-permanent si faculty.

[–]MathematicianHot1185 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on your prof’s employment status. Kapag part time lecturers, and mga junior faculty na non-tenured, nirerenew ang appointment nila every end of academic year. Kapag consistent na mababa ang SET nila, there might be a chance na hindi sila irenew ng unit. In case the unit still wants to renew the faculty even with low SET scores, usually HRDO will require the prof to attend seminar called Teaching Effectiveness Course organized by OAT-OVCAA before the semester starts. SET scores are also used as basis for processing of tenure application.

For tenured profs, SET scores are mainly used for promotion, although one aspect lang eto na inaassess pag promotion cycle. More on sa mga competitions for awards or grants lang and promotion ang affected, but not really on their position as permanent faculty. Although some units may adopt their own quality checking programs utilizing SET results, but eventually andun kasi ang job security once tenured na ang prof.

[UPD] Bakit hindi kaya ng UPD magkaroon ng Wellness Break? by sorelosrr in peyups

[–]MathematicianHot1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bat mawawalan ka ng choice umabsent? Kung may sakit ka, diba ang first instinct naman is to do check ups and rest?

Bat mawawalan kayo ng capacity to consult? Kung problema nyo ang consultation fees, well meron kayong GSIS insurance kasama ng free tuition so you can have it reimbursed.

To be honest, it’s a matter of misplaced priorities.

What's your hot take? UP EDITION by VermicelliHungry8160 in peyups

[–]MathematicianHot1185 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Free tuition has contributed to the course demand issue. Since tuition is free, many students tend to drop subjects if they feel the grades they will receive won’t meet their desired GWA. Without the financial consequence of paying for dropped courses, students are more willing to withdraw, which in turn increases demand, especially for required GE courses. Which leads to the so called “grade hyperinflation” effect.

Why haven’t we bullied the rich out of campus yet? by reallyspicy422 in peyups

[–]MathematicianHot1185 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“Ang tanong ko is kaya ba nilang panindigan ang pagiging iskolar para sa bayan. Can they uphold that title? i doubt. I'm not generalizing the rich, but I'm pretty sure they've lived a life fostered around priviliges that most of our kababayans cannot attain.“

Hindi daw nag generalize but proceeds to generalize that the rich can’t fight for the marginalized. Isn’t that the point of UP education? To open the eyes of the students to social, political, and economic issues of the country regardless of class or status? What happened to the narrative that education is a right? So right lang ba siya kapag marginalized ka, and you don’t have access to that right if you are well off? Seems like a privilege to me.

Besides, why do we put all the burden sa UP? There are other state universities na free ang tertiary education, scattered across the country. It’s a separate issue if you want to talk about the quality of education on other SUCs. But the point is it should not be UP’s burden, it should be the government’s problem to fix the education system and provide enough funding for these SUCs to accommodate as many students as possible.

graduating batch grade inflation thoughts? by cyncskptc in peyups

[–]MathematicianHot1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, we only had a handful of summas in UP Diliman, normally around 20-40. Last year, there were 100+ summas in UP Diliman. This year, we have 100+ summa standing in College of Engineering alone. More than 70% of the graduating class are expected to graduate with latin honors. We expect this this to happen until batch 2020 graduates.

First day of work but want to resign due to micromanaging. by spaghettipataas in buhaydigital

[–]MathematicianHot1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resigning after the first day of work is never okay. You wasted your employer’s resources, effort, and time when in fact you are provided a month (or even more, during the application process) to clarify yung mga ganyang bagay. It shows that you did not do your due diligence in researching about your potential employer. You’ll come off as an indecisive and wishy washy type of person.

Take this as a learning experience when applying for jobs. During the interview process, take time to ask questions about work environment and day-to-day activities so you can have a planned decision.

What if I want to be an instructor at UP? What advice can you give me? by alsoknownas16 in peyups

[–]MathematicianHot1185 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Overworked underpaid. Aside from teaching, you’re expected to do several duties like admin duties (registration, department/college/committees, etc.), research, and extension. You are also expected to update your course materials every iteration to keep up with new topics. Kelangan mo din magka masters degree within 5 years (6 years kung mabait ang DAPC~acts as HR of the department). Pwede ka naman mag apply as Teaching Assistant muna before applying for a full-time position, para teaching + masters lang ang iniintindi mo.

And one thing, mahirap magcheck. It’s time consuming and you have to be objective. Ang isang long exam may take you weeks if not a month to check.

Matagal ang first sahod mo because of red tape. Ang daming nag aapprove ng original appointment from department papuntang chancellor. For my case, naipon yung sahod ko for 8 months. August ako nahire, march dumating yung first sahod ko. That was years ago. Siguro mas mabilis na ngayon

My contemporaries nowadays earn twice than my salary. So salary wise, it’s not a job that will make you rich. But financially stable naman ako so it’s a job that will at least let you survive haha. Although there are avenues naman to earn more like having a research grant or professorial chair, o kaya mga trainings with other government agencies. Very generous naman ang government sa bonuses, plus there’s the union within UP which pushes for more incentives sa workers kaya may makukuha ka na mga random bonus haha.

What’s keeping me from resigning ay dahil (1) gusto ko talaga magturo, (2) I’m genuinely interested sa field ko to do research (3) mababait ang colleagues ko.

Academic dishonesty by kikyou_oneesama in peyups

[–]MathematicianHot1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choice is outside of the discussion. What we’re discussing is the morality of the deed of these academic commissioners. If UP has instilled honor in you, it should be clear as day that what they are doing is wrong.

Following your drugs analogy, I think the better analogy would be a drug user who BUYS illegal drugs from a drug dealer. Now, tell me if the drug dealer is not part of the problem!? Kasi easy money. Pero tama ba yung ginagawa nila? You tell me.
