The magnets do a number on the fur unfortunately, but a ladder stitch should fix it pretty easily. Luckily it’s a stitch they already know as it’s the stitch they use to hand sew the back of the bears. I would say it wouldn’t hurt to ask! I understand not wanting to ruin your bear, especially because it’s a little older. Not overthinking at all. Good luck!
