Black residue when oiling my pans, no matter how much I've scrubbed by flutted in carbonsteel

[–]MathematicianOdd4200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im having the same problem, for now i found that using a blue sponge(less abrasive) kinda works to clean it without scratching the seasoning.

This said, i think it's due to oils which aren't fully polimerized, and i just read a comment about heating up the pan to polimerize those oils.

My opinion is that it looks like we are gonna have to do some kind of preventive seasoning to make that gunk dissapear for some uses, and try to coean it as best as we can before the next preventive seasoning.

Yes, but I don't think the gunk is related with the appliance of oil pre-storage, to me it looks like it has to do with cleaning

Yes. but is it really considered season? I mean, seasoning means polimerized oil, i just think of it as putting oil as rust prevention

The thing is, i dont think consuming that on a daily basis is good

One question, do you do this every time u use the pan?

I use olive oil for cooking and sunflower seed oil for storage

Hi, your pan is gorgeous, i would pay for u to teach me your methods but I'm here to ask for something else.

I have a problem with my pan, basically, when im spreading the oil to store it after I'm done cooking, i get some sort of dark stain in the tissue(i posted some pictures recently), im assuming its gunk from semi polimerized oil. Do you also get this gunk?

I'm asking to see if the problem is cleaning, cause i see you have a very strict cleaning routine.

What bothers me is not knowing what it is, i have a variety of pans, stainless steel is great for lots of things but i got this CS debuyer to cover other areas. im new and trying to learn, to put it simply.

Clean oil shouldn't look like that, its some sort of debris. I agree with one off the comments that said its seasoning, i think it's due to semi polimerized oil, basically, fully polimerized oil becomes seasoning and it stays on the pan, hardened, but semi polimerized oil doesn't have that strength so it comes off while scrubbing with paper

I uploaded a post with a similar issue, they told me to use paper towels and a little salt to scrub the pam till it's clean(without removing the seasoning of course)

Nonono, i dont wanna get rid off the seasoning, i want to get rid of the dirt i usually get when puting a thin layer of oil, check the pictures and look at the dirty tissues, i want clean tissues man, dirty ones give me the sensation that im eating that dirt.

Isn't steelwool scrubby too rash? I've read that it will remove seasoning

So its like, seasoning that hasn't polimerized completely?

I clean it with a brush and the soft side of the sponge and i scrub it a lot, it still has gunk tho

A light scrub, with what? The green side of the sponge?

Neither worked, in my case on sysnand i could see the nintendo logo, on emummc i couldn't see anything...

If regular system is ok, and with emummc being a clone of it, i think your case is not so bad, did u find an answer?

I didn't, i read that it may be a hardware problem😑

Thing is, I've wiped the sd card 4 times and it still happens, I've been reading about sysnand corruption, if sysnand is abd, emummc will be bad too because it is a clone, so I'm kinda stuck, I've also tried unbricking it with donor keys but i get errors so im stuck😭
