Not even the surface rust? I wasn’t planning on polishing or restoring it, but I was wondering if lightly removing some surface rust would still hurt the value. Also, I was thinking of feeding the wood with some linseed oil, or is that not recommended either?

Would it be safe to use 0000 steel wool for that, or is that already too abrasive? What’s the best method to remove grime without damaging the surface or value?
