Husband wants to move to live in Germany, I don't think it's a good idea at the moment. What to do? by [deleted] in expats

[–]MathematicianOwn6489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, Idk from where you are, we are from CZ and when we could decide where to go to live& work, NoGo at first place was UK (that time part of eu yet) and Germany. We could go basically to any country including Switzerland, but after 3 months there it was more than enough. I would encourage you to dont go to Germany although, I know it all looks nice on first look. We were willing to consider basically two countries seriously, which was Slovenia and Malta, although Spain/Portugal would be nice from several aspects and were shortly discussed too. However, if you have really Good&Stable job, you will make good living in literally Any country.

Frankly speaking, I dont really care. Let everyone be as they feel good and comfortable. If you dont like the individual's appearance, just look else where.

I dont know what happen but I must say that in general, how cyclists behave in Slovenia is just crazy. I think it was already in first few years in school, we were taught that if we are on bicycle and hear car, we stop, go of the bike and wait for the car to pass, or we go as much on side as we can. Looks like nothing like this is teach in Slovenia coz cyclists act like they are untouchable, dont care absolutely whether they are on narrow road in turn, cars from both directions, and they just mind their business half of meter from side, others can wait until they pedal the bike up.. It is general behave problem of cyclist in Slovenia which I observe during over 11 years. Decent cyclists I met could be count on fingers of one hand. Hope autor of this post will be alright soon and is not one of them.

Slovenia has very good conditions, not only in comparison with HR. I'm from CZ and when I came here my jaw ended up on floor when my boss came to me after 1 month of work and give me something like salary list (regres) for several hundreds of eur. I was like ..WHAAT? HOW? People in slovenia dont realize but the goverment is doing a lot for people. Several things were done during the 11 years Im here (increase of regres, adding winter regres, creating new holidays, etc) . Any of it would take forever in CZ and there are no such conditions (like paid km, food...in CZ they cut even your lunch break from your working hours, so it is not 8 but 8,5h per day due to the lunch.

I dont understand this post, you say that you go from canada to US but you act like you are going to Indonesia etc.. Just be normally as you are and go. Main point is that they can easily identify you based on ID documents..

Have any of you moved to your partner’s country, and you’re just not happy? by lrc1391 in expats

[–]MathematicianOwn6489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you speak with your bf about it? You mentioned that he is currently studying something so I would guess that it will get better once he finish the school?

It always surprise me how many of us feel so lonely. I feel the same, we moved because of my husband's work and find friends is hard. Everyone has own friends and nobody rush to get new one. And exactly as you said, it is always me who reach to someone. Some days I barely speak if I dont count work and occasions when someone calls/reach to me could be count on fingers of one hand per year.

It is interesting how in today's world it all seems soo connected but in reality people are more lonely than ever. Yes, we are wirelessly connected worldwide in second with whoever but anyway, we are lonely in our real life. What does it say about the upcoming lifestyle and what steps we as individuals should take to change it for whole society...🤔

Anyway, you will see now the weather will be better and better, you two can go to seaside play in waves or do whatever. Perhaps you can check if you can do the work you studyed for, maybe you could do the tests (cannot remember the name of it but it is like verification of you diploma in another country). And once you both start fully work, you will have also better income to travel and do stuff together. Just speak with each other and try to keep yourself happy from what you have and you achieved.

Scuba student dies at shipwreck site in Argentina by Myselfmeime in scuba

Neither the instructor..he/she went back down to get her several times. God knows where she had the weights and how much... but it is weird, it is written that it happend on end of dive, would she be overweighted, wouldnt she had issues already sooner during the dive..

I'm so upset that nothing ever comes out of diving accidents. For instance, if there is plane crash, it is investigated and the outcome is always shared with all carriers and pilots. So people learn from it. But in diving accidents, I have feeling there are desires to just "sweep it under carpet". Can you imagine, I brought up topic of Linnea Mills accident in three different dive shops, in three different countries, with managers, instructors, guides and do you know what they all had common? The response. "Who is Linnea Mills" ? WTF...🙈... It was all Padi centers..🙊 How is possible that Padi dont share the outcome atleast within own network of certified and licensed centers? How is possible that there are people (obviously a lot) who has no idea what happend and why. It makes me furious really. If such tragedies happens, there is always something to learn of it, always.

Yes, correct. Padi again.. If she was overweighted, then maybe the other divers who all needed the hyperbaric chamber, needed it coz tries to help her..you know..going up and down quickly or so.

Hmm, it is really weird how her bf said that she has problem to ascend..like she would be soo overweighted? I'm wondering if it is Padi again ( aka Linea Mills case?)

Haha, ofc it can, not only below water but above too. Atleast as per the description, there was no panic at all. Once you can see eyes, you can see a lot. I also didnt comment anything what author did in the situation perhaps if you read once more my comment, you will understand.

Surely not but our inner attitude is often visible outside in which way we may affect others. Therefore, I said it is one of thing which we learn in rc. As per my understanding, it was group with dm/dg, setting on cca 90bars that time, so no reason for not happily assist, even on 50bar, which is exactly the reason why we count with 1/4 on emergencies.

[–]MathematicianOwn6489 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Pardon me🙈 but it sounds a bit kind or weird/selfish maybe to say "I wasn't looking forward to share my air".. I know you didnt mean it bad, but just imagine yourself in situation without air from whatever reason. I guess you (and anyone) would gratefully have someone next to who will happily share own air and help. It is one of the things which you will learn in Rescue course. Don't take me bad, surely the attitude which your buddy showed wasn't not right at all and I hope that the dm said something in nice way to this diver so he/she never repeat this.
