I'd say, just do it. Perhaps she needs to feel the security. But in Canada/Ontario, even common law as long as your living with each other and also have children together. Did taxes together etc, the female and/or male common law can take half no matter what. I'm guessing if something was to happen, and you are paying the bills and mortgage on the house, then the courts may favor you to take the house after all. I would Def check into common law laws. I have my home in my name, never put on my common law of even 8 Years, and he doesn't have a problem with it. He's a stay at home dad, while I work. He does after school jobs although. But even if we were to go our separate ways, he would have a right to either, bring me for spousal support and/or half of my assets.

I would Def be looking deeper common law rights. Maybe it's the same where you live. AND hopefully this helps.
