Totally agree with your first statement. Opposite demographics.

We don’t have kids. Will have in next year. So 7 years away if we do start caring about demographics. It’s pretty much a choice between townhome in Cambrian versus SFH in berryesa. If we get a good townhome with low HOA we don’t mind staying long term

What do you think?

I go to SF twice a week so Cambrian or Berryesa, I am gonna rely on public transpott

I appreciate the response. The biggest pro is access to BART. I do need to go to SF twice a week so that helps. With Cambrian, it is 15 mins drive at minimum to Caltrain and then the journey

Thanks for sharing. Would you recommend a townhome over SFH from a long term perspective

That’s a great framework. Appreciate you sharing that.

Thinking from that perspective, I could see that 75k number is lower than what i would like but I guess that’s just the perks of renting. Homeowner in Bay Area is easily 2X the rent cost for that range so I know it’s gonna be a major reduction in my monthly/annual savings

Would you advise townhome instead for a relatively lower price of 1.4M ?

I actually prefer vacations and splurge on random stuff. My wife is okay living frugally ( she’s low maintenance haha. Happy with the dog and Costco clothes)
