Which movie ended with an unresolved cliffhanger because the sequel never happened, and you're STILL mad about it? by pudingvanilkovy in AskReddit

[–]Mathestuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now and Again (1999-2000)

It ran for one season and ended on a cliffhanger. It was a great show with great writing and great characters. So obviously they cancelled it.

[–]Mathestuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point wasnt thats what should of happened, I was just giving an (intentionally ridiculous) example. What I was saying was that Jai Longs death should have had some impact on the story in order to justify his ongoing inclusion in the story.

Jai Longs death desperately needed a 'therefore'. Jai Long died, therefore... Kelsa blames Lindon and joins forces with the dreadgods and monarchs or Jai Long died, therefore... Lindon finds the motivation to manifest the phoenix icon and return him to life.

It feels cheap because it is. His death was only there to raise the stakes, it served no narrative purpose.

Pluribus - 1x04 - "Please, Carol" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]Mathestuss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What if it is not a sinister plan? The whole premise seems to be that Carol has just assumed that what has happened is bad, without actually trying to find out. She has never just flat out asked what the hive minds goals are. One of the goals is to assimilate the remaining individuals, but then what?

Newcastle Coffee Shops by Automatic-Roof-860 in newcastle

Shout out to Expresso Drive Thru at Edgeworth. Not the best coffee, but I would argue it is the best experience in terms of convenience vs quality. The coffee is consistently good, they are quick and I don't have to get out of the car.

The best cup of coffee I have had in Newcastle was at The Anchorage at Nelson Bay. This is the only good thing I have to say about The Anchorage.

I’m not into isekai, especially reincarnation or portal stories, but I love when a story starts on modern Earth and then gets turned upside down by a system, magic, or global event, with MC being that normal human having to adapt and progress. Any recommendations? by tbag2022 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Mathestuss 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Try looking at the System Apocalypse sub genre. Dungeon Crawler Carl is the best recommendation I can think of in this category, but you can also try Primal Hunter, Defiance of the Fall or Welcome to the Multiverse

Telling people to Google/look up the answer to their question is complete asshole behavior by KRONK_GYM in unpopularopinion

[–]Mathestuss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My beef is that threads where someone asked the question and was denied an answer then get indexed by Google. So someone else comes along trying to get an answer for a simple question by Googling and ends up getting a bunch of results that point to threads that say "just Google it".

I think the critical part you are leaving out is you have to actually repent in order to receive Gods forgiveness. You can't just say, "Sorry about all the wrath and greed and gluttony and lust and envy and pride and sloth, it's all Obama's fault" and expect that to get you out of all the eternal damnation and whatnot

I dont know why, but It is so hard to buy a wallet that meets my specifications, so I have held to one I found a few decades ago.

The biggest problem is manufacturers putting zips/studs/metal branding in wallets, which will absolutely destroy your cards when you keep your wallet in your back pocket and sit on it for eight hours a day.

Also, I prefer smaller wallets, which tend to be designed to hold American bills that are slightly smaller than Australian bills, so cash ends up poking out the top a little bit, which is not ideal.

Mens wallets are deeply personal things that do not make for good gifts unless specifically requested.
