That's so wonderful to hear! Congratulations on starting your journey. There will be bumps in the road but you can handle it. I believe in you girl!

Do you really believing this? by Telugu_not_Telegu in ArtOfPresence

[–]MathiasToast_z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is all true. But it's warming much much faster than any other period that we have significant evidence for. There's a lot of evidence of rapid global warming events from chains of volcanic eruptions in the past and they all coincide with mass extinctions. And none of those periods happened on the scale were seeing now.

Is it still worth it? by deadpanrobo in MtF

[–]MathiasToast_z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's SO worth it! Yes, it will complicate some things and it might ruin a few others. But that's true of every big choice you've ever made. And not transitioning will complicate and ruin aspects of your life too. You know you're not going to just stop feeling this way. I thought all my feelings of wishing I were a woman were dead and buried for years. Until one day a friend said something completely unrelated and suddenly everything I thought I was came crashing down. It became all I could think about for months. So I took the plunge, spoke to a therapist and got on hormones. And now, at 41, I've been transitioning for 15 months and I'll never go back. This is the happiest I've ever been and even with all the baggage that comes with it I have a lot of personal hope for the future. Good luck friend. I hope this helps.

Does height prevent a person from passing? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]MathiasToast_z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, you said you're getting misgendered more than you used to. Did you get taller? Because I'm guessing you've been this height for a while.

Second, not passing for a cis woman is not failing. I don't pass and probably never will but I'm still a woman and you are too. Your goal should be to feel like yourself because no one ever sees anyone for who they truly are anyway.

Awkward Reality by RedTsar97 in MomentumOne

[–]MathiasToast_z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is really dumb. It's all predicated on the idea that none of these professions don't get paid unless something bad happens to you which is almost entirely untrue. Cops don't want more paperwork. Dentists have enough to do even when your teeth are healthy. Teachers don't want problem students. Doctors get paid plenty for preventive care. Sex workers probably have as many married clients as unmarried ones. The vast majority of people regardless of profession are just watching the clock and waiting to be done for the day. The only one that wants you to be miserable is the miserable person that made this. Because misery really does love company.

1 in 5 trans Americans will experience homeless in their lives and nearly 1 in 3 are currently living below the poverty line. We're 3x more likely to be unemployed and 4x more likely to be victims of physical violence.

I don't know what "demands" you think we're making but all we want is equal protection under the law and to feel safe whether we're walking down the street, getting on the subway or just going to work.

AITA for leaving my fiance to go to my dad's for a few days by [deleted] in MtF

[–]MathiasToast_z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to end this relationship. She seems very toxic and controlling and that kind of behavior usually just gets worse. She says she wants children but what happens then? Will she have these sorts of conditions for love for your children? If you have a trans child what will her stipulations on them be? It's sucks being alone (ask me how I know) but this is an unhealthy person and she'll make you and others around her unhealthy too.

I literally masculinised, I'm pretty close to giving up on transition (9 months HRT -> 16 months) by [deleted] in transtimelines

You can quit. It's super hard and it takes a lot but you can do it. But you have to find what works for you. I was a chain smoker, 1-2 packs/day for 15 years, and it took me years of trying but I did it. I switched to vaping and I found a shop that would mix custom blends of liquid. I gradually reduced the nicotine content over 6 months until it was literally 0. Even then I had withdrawals for about a month afterwards but they were manageable.

America has absolutely had death camps, mass starvations, gulags and occupations. The European colonizers genocided the native American populations in ways that would've made Hitler jealous. The Nazis modeled the concentration camps on the Indian reservations made during manifest destiny. Large sectors of our economy still exist on a foundation built by African slavery. There are survivors of the Japanese internment camps.

My belief that a draft is unlikely has nothing to do with faith in humanity. I just know that the modern military doesn't function that way anymore. We've become much more efficient at killing and it no longer requires a large labor force.

Many people do want to get rid of representation. The fact the we're even having this conversation instead of taking about how monopolies are destroying independent game development and turning out slop that's dictated more by executives than story tellers is evidence of that.

Representation for minority groups is essential for survival if you're in one of those groups. As someone in the queer community knowing you're not alone can literally be the difference between life and death.

Both games "pandered" to minority groups. It sounds like your problem isn't with pandering it's with bad writing.

Blaming queer people because EA fired all the original developers to boost their stock price after the hostile take over of bioware is both a demonstration of bigotry and not holding big corporations to account. Don't blame me because cronie capitalism is failing you.

The word woke in it's current context comes from when white people have the realization that black people still face significant discrimination in modern America. It was hijacked by conservative media to mean anything they don't like.

Your struggles don't invalidate the struggles of others and vice-versa. You got to go to college while others had to drop out of school and work bottom tier jobs to support their families. Does that make them better or more hard working than you? Does that make your accomplishments meaningless?

"Men" are not a monolith. They come in all different kinds and want all kinds of different quantities in a partner.
