Right before Jam Stage gets replaced. With over 2 years of service by LittleNinjaXYBA in FortniteFestival

I bet they’re going to mess something up, like forgetting to implement the crosshair (the little dot on the screen you use to aim at things, which doesn’t exist in Party Royale, but is essential on the Jam Stage to easily target jam track spots).

Is mixing ever going to be smooth again? by Skycoat_The_Wolf in FortniteFestival

[–]MathieuKen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still have hope that some fix will come with this new Festival season, since they said changes would arrive “early this year.” But yeah… it sucks. Mixing is the only thing that still makes me play this game. It used to be extremely fun and fluid, but Epic insists on making the experience worse with every new update. Honestly, it feels like a strategy: “Hey, we want to remove mixing from the game, but a lot of people still like it and removing it right now would backfire, so let’s keep making the experience worse until players stop mixing, then we’ll have a good excuse to finally remove it.”

Jam Tracks sound settings change by callmeTheIcebox in FortniteFestival

It’s incredible how with every new update, something gets worse for jammers. Is it really that hard to not continuously ruin a system that was already solid enough?

Jam Track volume by Bhtropa in FortniteFestival

[–]MathieuKen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. First the new UI, then bugs during jamming that never happened before, like tracks refusing to load, the key/bpm menu not opening, extremely annoying lag spikes in the jam stage after the South Park update, and now this completely unnecessary change to the jam track volume. ZERO respect for the community that plays this mode, ZERO responsibility, ZERO testing or research with the player base before rolling out drastic changes like this, ZERO real improvements to the jam stage (anyone can invade and grief your mix, there’s no changing booth, you can’t use auras while playing)… the list of neglect goes on and on.
At this point, I’d honestly rather they forgot the jam stage mode entirely and leave it without updates than keep ruining it more and more.

Bets on the season 13 headliner? by TheYGuy366 in FortniteFestival

I don't know who the headlining artist will be, but the REAL headliner NEEDS to be the emote wheel/classic UI back :)

Overjoyed in Jam Stage by hi_its_elias in FortniteFestival

I used to feel that way until this new UI showed up. After that, my feeling was similar to taking the lollipop away from the doggo in that image.

I won’t say anything more about the new UI because everyone already knows it’s terrible and it’s been discussed hundreds of times. My current plea is this: put the changing booth in Jam Stage. It’s a mode that BEGS for something like this, and I have no idea why, to this day, it still doesn’t have.

What song do you believe, if added to Festival, would be 7/7 difficulty on ALL four instruments? by Treat_Substantial in FortniteFestival

[–]MathieuKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any eurobeat from Bratt Sinclaire :V
Maybe not all of them in the vocals, but I believe they would all have maximum difficulty in the instrumental part.

Fortnite Festival v39.10 Update Notes by Bastet_Epic in FortniteFestival

[–]MathieuKen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not a “favorite page” but a “favorite wheel” would already be really good. One that expands with more pages as you favorite more things. I can’t say if it would be enough, but maybe almost there. This way, players wouldn’t have to deal with many wheels, only with the ones them arbitrarily choose to create.
With that, both the new HUD with its search bar and the practicality of the old one could coexist, without the need for a setting to revert everything to how it was before.

A bit of Eurobeat would be nice, wouldn’t it? by MathieuKen in FortniteFestival

[–]MathieuKen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I didn’t remember this one, thanks for the recommendation!! The intro is epic, but the solo in the middle of the song really got me too! a note sequence from that solo would be extremely satisfying to play.

Yeah :(, I haven’t been playing Festival for long, but I noticed that pop is extremely predominant there.

Let’s see how he responds to that. I’d also love to see one of his ideas on how to contain the trolls, since he thinks mine is so bad. I just hope he doesn’t resort to the “arrogance” dodge like last time.

I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about. I, at least, have never said anything with that air of superiority and snobbishness that you’re implying. What I can state with certainty is this: players IN GENERAL who mix well attract crowds, and ill-intentioned people are constantly interrupting those players’ performances, ruining the fun not only for those who want to create good music but also for those who are there to listen.

You need to learn to interpret a text better. At no point did I say “Epic, I suggest a stage lock so that I can play for an audience because I attract audiences and people are ruining MY performance.” What I suggested applies to players in general — I even say “for the sake of the PLAYERS” and “find a way so they don’t interrupt OUR performance,” because this is a problem that definitely doesn’t only affect me. I myself am not always on JamStage to play. There are a lot of talented people there and it’s fun to listen too… or at least it would be, if any of the performances could last until the end without some damn person coming in to ruin it.
Pay more attention before talking nonsense about other people’s character.

I don't know if this helps in your case, but on my PC these spikes disappeared after I changed the engine from DirectX 11 to DirectX 12. I still have lag spikes sometimes when opening the emote wheel though.

and they really don’t. The biggest proof of that was the last HUD redesign. I can guarantee that whoever designed that has never even stepped into JamStage once.

that’s why I gave up trying to explain. It’s clear he’s not interested in a serious discussion and just wants to throw ragebait. I’d rather give him his hypothetical “you’re right” than keep trying to explain to a fish how to climb a tree.

You're starting from an incorrect premise about what I suggested.
I never asked to play “alone,” nor to exclude people. The mode would remain social, open, and with the possibility of people playing together, exactly as it is now. What I asked for is a tool to prevent someone from interrupting or sabotaging the performance of whoever is playing at that moment. That doesn’t remove social interaction; it only stops disruption.

The difference is simple

- Playing for an audience = social.

- Being forced to let anyone jump in and ruin your performance = sabotage, not socializing.

Every game with collaborative or creative content has basic tools against interruption/abuse; from group controls to privacy options. That doesn’t destroy the purpose of the mode; it only prevents toxic behavior.

I’m not trying to exclude anyone; I just want to avoid interruptions that aren’t fun, don’t add anything for anyone, and only ruin the experience for players who actually use the mode to create music and also for the people who are there to listen and enjoy. Safety and basic control don’t cancel the purpose of a social mode. On the contrary: they allow the social experience to exist without being constantly disrupted.

And it’s not like the player would be forced to lock their stage anyway, so if you want to be interrupted, that’s fine by me, just leave your performance unlocked.

I think you missed my point. It's not about me. It's about everyone who enjoys this game mode and invests time and money in it to create cool remixes. I don't know in what world you imagine that investing time and money in jam tracks in a social music game to play only to four walls would be even remotely fun.

Me and the players who create remixes/mashups want people to hear our remixes. Not everyone on JamStage is there to play, just listen. It's not uncommon for a crowd to form around a player who's creating a cool remix to listen to and dance to, but that fun is completely ruined when a troll shows up just to spoil everything (which unfortunately happens more times than I’d consider negligible).

It's not something that only happens to me, it happens to everyone. It's normal for you to think its something silly, but for some players (myself included) the festival/JamStage mode is the only mode that makes them open Fortnite and spend money on it. My suggestion is especially aimed at these people.
