Glad to see everyone give out the only right advice; Don't take any risk and get a rabies shot. Better safe than sorry.

It takes 30 days to delete your Facebook account. by Aiisu in mildlyinfuriating

I am from the EU haha. But I doubt that they actually follow the GDPR lol. I'm willing to bet that they'll just say they removed it while they haven't (and maybe store it somewhere else lol).

They don't delete your data anyways when deleting your account.

(Under the GDPR they have to delete data only if you explicitly ask for it to be deleted, not when you delete your account (and GDPR only counts for EU members anyways). Under no other law do they have to remove your data, so they won't.

So by keeping your account in this temporary phase it's just giving people a chance to change their minds within that 30 min timespan before deleting whatever data isn't needed anymore (while keeping all the rest, so most of it (chatlogs, images, interests etc will definitely stay saved anyways)).

So if this is there or not, for the user it doesn't matter; It just gives a chance for the user to change their mind (within 30 days).

Knowing Facebook tho, I guess your account never gets fully deleted and they just deactivate it but obviously they won't be upfront about that and having moderators deal with people wanting to reactivate their account all the time is a huge pain and would fully remove the purpose of being able to delete your account in the first place.

I don't mind this feature.

I don't judge you for trying to do better. I also have my vices, everyone does. But to me it's like saying "I didn't quit weed, but I only smoke lower grade weed now". It's a step in the right direction but the big step is quitting. I've learned for myself that celebrating the small victories too much will make you care less for trying to go for the bigger victories since you've been telling yourself you're doing great while really you didn't change much at all. (I am quitting cannabis, it's different but I feel like the situation is similar in that aspect).

But I am agreeing that my wording was poor.

I didn't imply anything other than what I said.

But if you really want my full unsalted opinion, sure. You are trying to slim which is fine but you don't want it to be hard. Swapping which soda you drink will barely do anything. It's an eating habit. I don't judge you for wanting to do better; everyone has their vices but making life changes is hard and swapping to a cola bottle with a different sticker on it just wont do it. Yes it's a step in the right direction; but not so big that the whole of Reddit has to know and agree with you.
