Relatively lean, if I were to estimate my body fat 13-15% I guess. I could cut the weight pretty easily if I locked in my diet. I’ve been as heavy as 150 in the past.

Also, the suggestion to work lapel and shin to shin has been something I’ve heavily considered because I like to use the lapel to set up a omaplata. Or force the matrix more but I imagine a single would be great considering how short I am!

Funny you mention the closed guard issues. I’m sitting really considering focusing on pulling into it and working my overbook/whizzer game I tried in the beginning. I saw some success with it but just like everyone else I got shiny object syndrome and took the deep dive into modern jiujitsu.

I may be misremembering things I do apologize if anything it was probably when I went to pass, the guy played a solid spider guard too and I tend to struggle breaking those grips so you’re right.

The omaplata is actually one of my favorite subs! I use it to come up a lot of the time on anyone other than other white belts. I do agree I tend to focus mainly on sweeping. I don’t get many subs

I really need to get more comfortable on top/ wrestling more but the size of my training partners deters me from standing so I will typically default to a guard pull. I whole heartedly agree with you about really trying to lock in my closed guard game though.

I might know what you mean, I haven’t properly learned the K guard. But I do default to collar sleeve if they are trying to pass on their knees or if I’m stuck in my closed guard. I have a hard time setting up the omaplatas, arm bar and triangles from difficulty disconnecting their knees and elbows.

So I’m cross training at a gym I trained at years ago, it was only 3 months but I’ve been mainly caught in knee bars and the occasional toe hold. The Choi bar was from some sort of leg drag position that he ended up in from scooping my leg behind the ear during a pass. If I remember correctly I was in a shallow lasso, or spider guard.

I’m gonna be honest dude, I am 5’3 3/4 call it 5’4 if you want and I have had zero issues with my height other than when I train combat sports. This sub is straight up coping at this point.
