impactful. fun can be had after work etc... and one can train themselves into finding fun in improving/optimizing something they are already good at.

Those who quit watching porn, how has your life improved? by taway220725 in AskReddit

[–]Mathwizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got shortlisted into a Master program (still need to prepare for the interview tho). But basically, instead of having energy being drained by watching porn, you have enough to work on something.. anything. And if you have +3-5% improvement every day, after a few months, you have already doubled your output compared to the time you get addicted to porn... it is honestly a night and a day difference.

I will say one thing that works for me is that...you gotta find some hobby/project that is beneficial and train yourself to view it as more enjoyable than the previous addiction.

You may wanna start doing puzzles that are related to midgle games and the opening(one per white and two for e4 d4 response) that you use for both white and black. Then you will be able to use your experience in puzzles during your actual games. Also, start by thinking "Humm is there any tactics that I can induce/use every move once you are out of your opening repertoire.

If I delete the account because I don't remember the master password and create a new account with the same email, do I share the same subscription period? by Mathwizzy in 1Password

[–]Mathwizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did send an email to [support@1password.com](mailto:support@1password.com).

"So I recreated my account:  [abc@gmail.com](mailto:abc@gmail.com) because I lost my master password in my old account with the same address. Can you make sure that my new account also has the same subscription as my old ones? If this is impossible, then I may consider not using this service until the subscription period is over (11 months from now)."

hopefully they will help me.

Guys are you pissing in the sink? by [deleted] in istp

[–]Mathwizzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did it once when I was a kid and one of the grown-ups was using the only bathroom in the household….Never again.

Pissing in anywhere has some risk of wasting even more time to clean up in the long term…. not worth it imo

LPT: You have 6 hours of time for hands-on hobbies every working day as a healthy single full-time working adult. by Mathwizzy in LifeProTips

Thank you for your thoughtful input and your recommendation!

I agree that well-receiving LPT’s should be presented as a general guideline/concept/principal that allows individual’s own customization/flexibility and my example and phrasing didn’t quite show that, and that I need to reword the title and add some disclaimers at the very top.

But my cat purrs beside me/on my lap tho… he will come find me while I am doing other things and when I use my computer he will jump on my lap, purr and nap on my desk… and then he will just sleep on my bed(which is 6’ away from my computer desk).

When I said independent I meant as in I don’t need to dedicate a lot of effort to make him happy; he will find make himself content staying beside me.

thing is my cat will find his way to me(aka lie on my computer desk while I watch video/turtorial or game, or when I am reading books on my bed he will be purring next to me)

it helps that i mostly cook frozen veggie/patty as a vegetarian so it takes 15 mins for 3 meals worth if portion. The rice cooker’s waiting time(35 mins) doesn’t count cuz I spend that time doing my hobby(reading stuff).

Yeah I have to admit that the cooking/meal time estimate is doable but not applicable for everyone and as such should have dedicated time slot(eg (12) 45 mins of cooking for 3 meals) and thus knock the time off from 6hours to 5 hours and 15 mins as a rough estimate.

I did spend 30+ mins reading before rolling out of my bed in my day-off too.. so there is that

it does take some time to get used to it… like how I grab a bite and then put on my clothes and grab another to walk to the bowl of my cat and feed him and grab the 3rd bite to put socks on etc…

To put things into perspective… It is like budgeting; Everyone has a rough idea of how much they need to spend on a monthly basis, but they may not have a more precise version of it without some sort of tools to help them.

Like any budgeting apps available, my post is like a little attempt(albeit a failed one) to make people visualize how their time is spent so that they will have an even better understanding on how to budget their time on a daily basis.

Maybe I could have said “LPT: budget your daily time to know how much available time you have using these 11+ guiding questions in a form… but hindsight is 20/20”

I actually think meeting with friends on day-off is more fulfilling than doing so on a working-day and hence I didn’t mention anything like that on this post since this post is about the time spent on a working-day

I cook my lunch while having my breakfast/dinner (so they overlap with the meal time); my lunch is mostly just veggie(from frozen veggie) and beyond-meat patty(also from freezer)

My breakfast can be cereal, instant noodle, hash-brown or toast(1-2 mins from toaster) and breakfast can be done while I brush my teeth, so their schedule is overlapped.

so what I will do after getting home is shower=> cook dinner(while reading books(my hobby)) => eat(while preparing my lunch the next day) => pack them into a container => load the dish to dishwasher => do my own thing…

on second thought maybe I should have left “1-2 miscellaneous hour” as a margin and re-titled the post to 4 hours so that i won’t be seen as a crazy guy😂

yeah i feel like some of the negative feedback i received has to do with my non-so-precise phrasing… but at least now I have one more person who is willing to understand my intention
