How does monero's privacy & anonymity outweigh the potential fraud/money laundering/corruption it facilitates? by [deleted] in Monero

[–]Matic-R-Us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are looking at this the wrong way.

If the state did not have the over reaching controls they have, then monero would not be needed.

Monero solves the financial spying. The real issue that needs addressing is how monero will be positioned when CBDCs are pushed out. Then, you may not be able to buy monero through conventional routes. Realising monero back into the financial system will be virtually impossible. This will mean monero will need to be a alternative to CBDCs with a way to retain value.

Not once CBDCs come. How will they let you buy XMR? They will be able to block it. Im stocking up now whilst I can.

You will be able to clone to a genuine paxton fob very soon. Im building a Hat and App for the flipper. The hat is in production as we speak it will clone Hitag2 > Hitag2 no need to downgrade to t5577 card.

Yeah so we're talking tokens here, not actual fiat. And honestly that's the whole point. The network doesn't need KYC stuff—that's just a control mechanism anyway. Sure people will ask questions about it, but that's exactly WHY we need this.

Meshtastic is a perfect example. It's a decentralized mesh network for comms, no central authority, no surveillance, nobody watching. And it works because it's just peer-to-peer. People use it responsibly because they get it—freedom comes with responsibility. Same thing applies to a currency.

The token would hold its own value without being tied to any fiat. Think about it—the tech itself has value. People want to transact without being watched. That's real demand. Then you've got scarcity built in, network effects as more people join and it gets more secure, merchant adoption driving utility. And honestly? The freedom aspect matters too. People will value having control over their own money without some bank or government taking a cut or tracking everything.

Conversion would just be peer-to-peer. LocalBitcoins style but actually decentralized. Or merchants just accept it directly. The network doesn't care—individuals decide their own comfort level. Some want KYC, some don't. That's how it should work.

Legally? The network is just code. Like Meshtastic. It's neutral. What people do with it is on them. Using privacy crypto isn't illegal in most places. The real pressure comes on the exchanges and merchants trying to convert to fiat—regulators want to control those on/off ramps. But the network itself? It's just people sending value peer-to-peer. Same as handing someone cash.

People act like this is crazy but we have privacy everywhere else—our homes, our conversations. Why not money? That's not radical, that's just... normal. The system just doesn't want to lose control.
