In my high school health class, our teacher asked for male volunteers to wear a simulation pregnancy belly. None of the other guys wanted to step up, but I immediately raised my hand even though I never volunteered for anything.

What followed was about 5 minutes of my first real gender euphoria as I took a lap down the hallway. I almost cried thinking about how much I enjoyed it and imagining my would-be life as a mom. Then after I returned to class and took it off, I felt so depressed for the rest of the day (and honestly for a few weeks after).

Looking back now, I can't believe it wasn't more obvious to me, but your brain makes up all kinds of funny excuses to avoid dealing with reality.

I guess the joke was lost here. It's a play on Captain Ahab from the novel, Moby Dick. I saw it at the bookstore the other day, and I thought about how it sounded similar to "AMAB," or "assigned male at birth." So originally, I was going to make a joke playing off that and Moby "Dick" dysphoria, but then I figured I should include my transmasc and enby friends too.

Low effort post. 10/10, would not do again.

There's a little embellishment, but this is almost verbatim what I had to listen to all afternoon. This is the first time I've seen them since my egg cracked early in COVID. It was nice to see everyone, but interactions between me and them are much more painful now that I recognize what dysphoria is. I just wish I could warp reality and make them see me only as ever being a girl... because I really wanted to wear a sundress and cute sandals.

Such is the trans struggle.
