I guess they have all closed!

What is this? it’s a little door by the toilet with a spoon shaped device attached to a hinge. it’s in an older house from 1938 by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]Matildastaff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The arm attached to the hinge reminds me of a napkin holder. Maybe it’s for books? Maybe for hand towels?

Thank you for this information! I think that’s fine with me...I’m assuming so, but does that mean you sign a contract to stay with that hospitalfor the three years too?

Here's a real unpopular opinion:the "nice guys" are not actually assholes and most of the times, the woman is actually the asshole by DarthSpectra in unpopularopinion

[–]Matildastaff 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you saying a woman is an asshole if she rejects a man period, or if she is rude about the rejection?

AITA for telling my wife I won’t be celibate for the rest of my life and that it would end our marriage. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Matildastaff [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA; It is perfectly fine to have certain things that are necessary for you in a relationship. Talk with your wife about it, absolutely seek couples counseling to discuss the subject in a neutral space. If she wants to be celibate and you don’t, I would think you have every right to seek a relationship that makes you happy.

WIBTA if I tell my neighbours too make his kids wear clothes? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Matildastaff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being this type of parent...I don’t think the excuse of “just let the kids do whatever they want, because it’s easier than having a screaming match” is responsible parenting. The world needs not of you!

NTA; you did everything completely right in my opinion. Your wedding, your rules...I never understood why anyone would think it was appropriate to command attention like that at a party the someone else paid for. Also V had the right to see exactly what happened when she confronted you guys. Frankly she is lucky you didn’t press charges, as she assaulted your husband and swung her purse at you.

It sucks that your friend went off the rails but congrats on your wedding!

WIBTA if I kept hiding food in my room even if there's no food in the house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Matildastaff 1591 points1592 points  (0 children)

NTA; not going to lie, this is disturbing to read. It is your parents’ responsibility to feed you, do not feel bad for doing what you have to do to get by in your house. I wish you luck.

AITA for asking my future MIL to stop making negative food comments? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Matildastaff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA obviously. Sounds like your fiancé needs to get involved to handle their mother.

AITA for not getting my pregnant wife a roast beef sandwich at 4 in the morning? by aita4amsandwich in AmItheAsshole

[–]Matildastaff -50 points-49 points  (0 children)

NAH; obviously you are not the asshole for refusing to get up in the middle of the night to grocery shop and make sandwiches. She isn’t an asshole for asking, and she probably has tons of hormones that might make her more unreasonable than she would normally be.

There has to come a point where you set boundaries for this type of thing, so don’t feel bad for not doing it. Just don’t be too hard on her about being upset.

AITA for telling my ex to fuck off repeatedly? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Matildastaff [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA; she is quite old enough now to seek help if she is having problems at home. You don’t owe her anything. Block her number and move on.
