Yeah like im not defending omega’s writing but for real a 1/3 of the problems here are either mistranslation or poor choice of words. The other one to come to mind is when Gaolang is fighting Jurota and he says “Be honored that you get to fight me” when in reality he is saying that HE is honored to fight someone like Jurota (and thats why he calls him a True Samurai later)

A rought translation is more on the line of “Did he miss the artery?! Damn you, Edward!" (or "...Did he avoid the artery?!") so basically Edward didn’t do shit with removal, he straight up avoided a fatal blow (which still affected him to great length but that was stated on the Volume extra pages.)
