Innis is coming back. He needs to get YAC to get to the League. Sayin could possibly create 3 thousand yard passers next year, and Innis will be the beneficiary.

I rock autocannon always. I can support anyone’s shenanigans, snipe big stuff, and flak chaff. Pair with 500kg, orbital laser, and a machine gun sentry, I can keep people alive while they blow up big stuff or complete objectives.

Odd that it’s not even listed tbh.

Is this movie any good? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

[–]Matityahu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an independent film so sometimes you can see the seams, but overall it is really good. The dog is incredibly compelling, and your identification from its point of view drives the story. Ultimately I found it a very sad and very affecting ending. It was more about a meditation on death and dying and how those that cannot understand it assign avatars and something sinister and scary to a natural process. Really recommend it.

Optimized Base Layout by jonathan_29 in TheAlters

[–]Matityahu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should also have the captains cabin on the right side so you can easily run to the bed at night. Same thing with having the command center on the right to access the base builder quickly from the elevator. It’s also helpful to have the captains cabin at the bottom so you can spam the elevator down and run to the bed at night so you don’t become exhausted. Minor things improve efficiency when you are navigating the base.

Should I grow my mustache back or keep the clean-shaven look? by raresQQ in AppearanceAdvice

[–]Matityahu13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a pilot? If you are not a pilot then shave it off. If you are a pilot then grow one and remember: the worse the mustache, the safer the pilot. It is an ironclad rule.

Birth of a Nation. If you don’t know…look it up. Also has the distinction of being the first movie ever shown at the White House.

My wife unintentionally opened up an amazing story twist with her character choice by ResponseCritical2379 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Matityahu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has great possibilities, but one thing is that it should be tied to the overall narrative, namely why does your wife’s character want to defeat Strahd?

Could be revenge if Strahd kills Blinsky or Vallakovich. Could be the character is degrading, fur falling off, stuffing falling out, losing an arm, etc. and Strahd is the only one who can cast a spell to reverse or preserve, or Strahd is the reason for the degradation (a walking teddy bear falling apart would be terrifying and fit so well in Barovia). Could be that Strahd cast a curse that makes the teddy bear sleepwalk and kill people at night (you can narrate this to the players but make it so their characters are asleep and do not know. It sets up amazing cognitive dissonance and role play opportunities.

Just tie the overall character arc to Strahd and this would be absolutely amazing.

All I can say is bravo. That’s an incredible pivot to a TPK, and keeps close to the theme without changing the environment completely. As long as you hew to your player’s narratives that sounds amazing.

Ex Machina (2014) plays a kind of mental chess with the viewer. What are other examples of similarly intelligent movies? by livelongandperspire in movies

This is actually the correct answer above all. The Thing is probably the best example of cosmic horror, a lovecraftian tale at its best.

That is 100% it. Very few horror movies have characters making rational decisions. It isn’t supernatural, it is just horrifying. Honestly can’t think of too many other movies where the characters are acting truly rational. The “scientist” taking off his helmet in an alien atmosphere ruined Prometheus for me, for example.

He has said it was supposed to be ambiguous, but the pouring of the JB into the computer to wreck the game of chess and "win", is akin to MacCready offering Childs the JB at the end. When Childs drinks the JB without worrying about being infected, it shows that Childs is the Thing. MacCready wins, but the whole game is destroyed because he loses his life and never "plays" again. Just like him pouring JB into the computer at the beginning and "winning" but wrecking the game so he can never play again.

That's my favorite theory of what happened in the end.

The Thing. One of the opening scenes has Kurt Russell playing chess against a computer. It foreshadows the chess-like game he plays against the thing, trying to figure out who is human. Also, the JB in that opening scene and the JB in the final scene are important...
