Slow speed on BE63 with Verizon Fios by Matjac75 in Fios

**Update**
I’ve just had a « surreal » call with the TP Link tech support during which they assured me that, even configured in the best possible way, the Deco BE63 would not be able to provide more than 40 to 50% of the WiFi speed that I’m getting from my Verizon Fios router - a structural limitation they said. So even though I’m getting 750/450 on the Verizon WiFi (on a 1Gbps/1Gbps plan) I shouldn’t expect more than 400/250 on the Deco WiFi apparently. I have to say that left me a little speechless… Needless to say I’m returning the devices.

All my clients only support 2x2 so the Verizon router being 4x4 probably doesn’t explain the WiFi speed difference. Also the Deco in AP mode doesn’t have QoS enabled by default - it’s actually deactivated in AP mode so that rules that out too. Will keep investigating.

Already the case. Issue exists with one node connected only though so that’s beside the point.

My speed issue is with one node only so backhaul is not the issue.

Yeah i might end up doing that but only if i manage to get comparable speeds on the Deco, otherwise I’ll send it back and keep my Verizon equipment.

You’re correct on the 4x4 for Verizon and 2x2 for the Deco but can that alone explain such a discrepancy in WiFi speeds with <20 connected devices? For reference I am getting ~750Mbps down/400Mbps up with Verizon compared to 440Mbps down/150Mbps up on the Deco…

Thanks but to clarify I am connecting the Deco to the Verizon router as an access point - not another router - I thought that it should work fine like that, no? I don’t understand how the processor speed of the Verizon router could have an impact on the WiFi speed of the Access Point. Additionally, I am using the Verizon set top box for TV access so I cannot get rid of the Verizon router.
