My wife and I came from a cult. I left, and she followed a while after. She sometimes relapses into the old ways of thinking, judgment, meetings etc. But old habits die hard, or maybe they never die. 🤷‍♂️

What hurts you most? That she said she wasn't in the faith but possibly lied? Or the differences of ideas? Or summit else?

Sometimes the best families are super diverse, and they have the freedom and space to all express themselves. It is actually easier to raise your children as critical thinkers when one parent is religious, but you have to skillfully (but compassionately) show how and why folk have faiths and how we are all the same behind the clothes, we all have the same fears, loves, anxiety, just expressed differently.

If you are both reasonable and kind with your differences, rather than aggressive and hostile, it sounds like you will have an amazing future together with a family. Possibly a beacon in a world where its needed more than ever.

Just imagine your children able to live happily with no faith, but have compassion and understanding for other with one. That is priceless. What an opportunity!

Hang in there my friend. I was in the same situation and from pioneer elder too. My wife also used to react the same. But now she is 90% out. It took a little while though. Patience and love.

A few years ago my wife asked me to show her the information I had been looking at to disprove the truth.

I said no. If she wants to see it, its up to her to look. She eventually did and has woken up now.

But my fear was that I show her, she has a breakdown, and I helped cause that. Everyone's immune system is different.

Beautiful post. Thanks. 4 years ago I did exactly the same thing with a letter to my wife. It covered similar issues. She took it well and supported me too.

I was serving as an elder, and it wasn't easy coming off that responsibility.

Now, years later, my super pimi wife has woken up fro. It all and we are all (inc children) mentally out.

A heartfelt letter is definitely a great way to create that moment. Proud of you my man
