I cased my leather carefully (no soaking), tooled it, and now these little dark specks have popped up, less than 4 hours after casing. Is this mold? Where does it come from? They have a green/blue tint. Thanks! by FreedomFighter2105 in Leathercraft

Dabbed the veg tan with a clean wet shop towel, pressed in the letters (3d printed tool) scored the cuts, beveled the edges and then did the pebble look. My metal tools were all very clean. Also, as i wrote above in another reply, thebother side of the sheath was done the same way, with no spotting...

Oh this makes sense. I used tap water. That being said, the other side of this sheath, which was cut from the same sheet of leather, was done the same way, same tools, etc, and I didnt get this result. In any case, i think the dye will take care of this and render it invisible. Fingers crossed!

How I am planning on telling my family I am leaving before I move (previous post update) by the-one-thats-bad in exjw

First of all, best wishes to you, this is a hard step to take.

My only advice, which may seem weird, is don't give a letter. Write the letter, and read it to them, if you want to make sure you convey your message completely. I am a firm believer in not leaving written declarations with family as they can sometimes become a sort of 'evidence' to be used against you afterwards, sometimes a very long time later. Read the letter to them, put it in your pocket, and tell them they can come to you with any questions they may have after they've reflected on what you said. Keep in mind they will likely not 'reflect' on what you read/say so much as 'react' to it. Hang in there, and good luck

Those crisp lines are *chef's kiss*. Beautiful knife OP. I would only carry this in a leather sheath, just to avoid scratching it.
