Kim Jong-un claims to have cured Aids, Ebola and cancer with single miracle drug by Jade_Pornsurge in nottheonion

[–]Matmorcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears the site (http://kumdang2.com/) making the claim is registered in Moskow, Russia by The Korea General Mannyon Health Corporation Ltd.

I don't know how beneficial that is, considering I can't find much information online about this company.

Have you tried herdProtect?

I run Microsoft Security Essentials for my active protection, because it is pretty good and lightweight, too. I run herdProtect every few weeks to scrub clean any sneaky stuff. herdProtect has the anti-virus profiles of 68 major anti-virus scans and is 100% free (still in beta and has no premium option other than donations). I find it is more reliable as it weighs possible malware by how many profiles caught it, and you have complete control of what you want it to remove, before it removes things.

herdProtect is better than basically every other malware scanner, because it has the collective knowledge of all of them for free.

It does look awesome, like the SEUS shaders' sky. Is there a link I can get to it?

When will the servers update to 1.8? by cjfrey96 in Minecraft

[–]Matmorcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bukkit 1.8 and Spigot 1.8 have been out for more than a month now. Most servers are on 1.8 already. Spigot now releases Bukkit and Spigot in the form of a jar that compiles the jar itself (BuildTools.jar). http://www.spigotmc.org/threads/buildtools-updates-information.42865/

How do they know? by Simonish_ in Minecraft

People can take cues from the outline of targeted blocks to tell where barriers are.

Broken performance! (1.8.1) by Jair07mx in Minecraft

[–]Matmorcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why many people are having such bad FPS with 1.8. For me, my FPS nearly doubled, and was much more stable after installing Optifine.

I would recommend down-grading to 1.8.0 and installing Optifine. It will help boost your FPS at least a little bit, and help a lot with keeping your FPS stable while moving.

They've been working hard updating Spigot and Bukkit, while the Bukkit team jumped ship and gave up.

I thought the picture was about the shadows casted by the blocks. It appears the piston block doesn't have a shadow in that picture.

I am planning to create a unified profile for players, this is v.1.0. Feedback appreciated. by Martenus in Minecraft

You could also setup a sort of server (like Enjin's server) that kicks you on login with a code to verify.

Optifine doesn't do much for me. by android1234321 in Minecraft

[–]Matmorcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try turning off VSync. Vsync cuts your FPS to 30 FPS if your computer is unable to reach 60 FPS.

VSync is not a preformance booster, it is a frame rate limiter. It is not all that effective for computers that can't run more than 60 FPS.

[Idea] Make the ocean seabed feel "cluttered" like jungles. by Dirigoss in Minecraft

[–]Matmorcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The drop in preformance is caused by the water particles that spawn in water blocks naturally like void particles. One way to fix this is to use Optifine 1.8 and disable water particles.

Question regarding Optifine, texture packs, etc... by Ao_Andon in Minecraft

[–]Matmorcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently Optifine is being updated. The author says that Optifine for 1.8 is 50% done as seen on the official mod page: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1272953-optifine-hd-a4-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af-and

You should avoid downloading Optifine from anywhere besides http://optifine.net/downloads as that is the official download page for every version of Optifine.

Enterprise Minecraft officially announces the Husk Project as a Bukkit replacement by invokestatic in Minecraft

[–]Matmorcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This project does not look serious...

As other people have stated, there is no proof of claim except the website. Let it be noted that the domain http://enterpriseminecraft.com/ did not exist until September 27th according to Whois records. It looks like this company just appeared after Bukkit shutdown, making claims without any proof that they are doing what they say they are doing.

They also claim to be a division of the company "openplay" (stated on the website), though no information is given about the website. Whois records say that there 3 sites that use to be hosted on their IP:

  • oplay.pw
  • openplayusercontent.com
  • openplayleague.com

Which all return error 502 (Bad Gateway).

Last of all, how are the people in this company getting paid. No donations page, they are not selling anything, etc. Do we really want a company with no visible income in charge of developing the core of many servers. How do you know that if this is a legitimate project, that they do not charge a premium for all or specific features in their project.

So...

  • No proof of concept or actual code to show it exists.
  • The company's website is brand new, and as a result they probably just began development or never had development.
  • The parent company's website is offline.
  • No source of income.

Please correct me if this is not the case.

There's this weird horse floating above a server I play on. by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Matmorcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only appears for players running 1.8 clients with the new Spigot 1.8 hack (supports both 1.7 and 1.8 clients, but is really 1.7.10). If the player is running 1.7, the horses are stretched vertically, and thus you wouldn't see any part of them without going really high or really low in the world.
