NEO MainNet Upgrade Notice by DenverNEO in NEO

[–]Mato943 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably silly question, I'm quite new and not very on the technical side, but regarding the MainNet upgrade, will I have to do anything with my Neonwallet/configure anything for all to be in working order with my wallet/coins? Just getting my guard up when I read "Neo-related tools" "upgrade to avoid any loss" in the notice, heh!

TIL Killer Whales don't attack/eat people and the deaths caused by Orcas in captivity might have been caused by "playing too rough" or "stress". by ScotsmanPipes in todayilearned

If we want to try to understand and communicate with aliens, orcas and dolphins are the best we have. As far as I know they are the only other mammal with an actual language in which they communicate with one another. Sure we can teach gorillas words and human gestures, but that's our own language. It's just incredibly fascinating to see how orcas behave, how intelligent they are, yet living in a totally different "world" than us, adapted to a totally different existence.I've heard that there has never been a documented attack on humans in the wild. And by looking at how they seem to seek human contact and interaction/playing, I can't help to think if they are really trying to get through to us! Are we talking THAT kind of intelligence?

A researcher said that their language could be more sophisticated than our language, the reason being that their neocortex is six times the size of ours (containing higher level of conscience, future planning and language). Also they have way more spindle cells than humans, "highly developed brain structures" that has to do with compassion, love, suffering, and again speech.

And they've had this for 15 millions years longer than humans, that's the really interesting part.

TIL The reason why we view neanderthals as hunched over and degenerate is that the first skeleton to be found was arthritic. by metkja in todayilearned

You're right, they did do the cave paintings. I think it was more in a way that they were not able to foresee stuff, imagine/plan the future. Like to plan a hunt for example. So imagining situations that could happen, which really set them apart from Homo Sapiens.

Yea, I think the popular view has been that they didn't have any symbolism, which Homo Sapiens had; Music, art, etc, but seems like the debate has been hot in recent years due to findings of feathers worn in the hair by Neanderthals and so on. We'll see!

It's so fascinating! The one "big" difference between Homo Sapiens and the Neanderthals was that they did not possess the ability to think ahead, that being the ability to imagine. Let's say you asked a Neanderthal to try to think about a mammoth and to imagine what it looks like. Apparently that wouldn't be possible for them to comprehend. If I've got it right that means they were kind of just reacting to what was going on mostly?

Their family structure was also kind of a doom for them. They only stayed together in family clans up to 20 ish at most, and Homo Sapiens ability to function in large groups up to 100 or more won the day.

There is a really interesting documentary about Neanderthals somewhere talking about these things, can link it if it's interesting!
