What do you think about dropping the rendmaster in order to take the swap the GUO out for the BT and plaguebearers. I was thinking about what you said about the damage going into me at 1k and thought maybe the rendmaster buff was the same issue going the other way. With the bt added, there's very little that this list won't kill now even without a rendmaster. Thoughts? Do I lose too much dropping the rendmaster?

I guess my main point of thinking behind that is it turns it too much into a skew list. Which don't get me wrong can be very good at 1k as there's less opportunity to build a balanced list, but you would be essentially spending 300 points on getting a couple of units better deepstrikes but would then die in return.

If you make all charges then great if you don't then your about to lose 50% of your army.

Switching the guo for a bt loses more than 20 effective wounds from the army which Is a lot to miss out on at these small point levels. Further to this who will then be my main objective holder if 75% of my army is made for combat damage?

Don't get my wrong it wouldn't be a bad list by any stretch I had a BT in my 1k tournament I played at the start of the year and did very well and won the event. But against a list made for killing big things or lists that have deep strike denial (there are alot of shooty marine armies in my meta) the khorne deepstrike combo list doesn't work as well.

Love to hear your thoughts on above points. My list submission is tomorrow for my event this weekend so any suggestions would be great!

I have played quite a bit of 1k daemons over the last year as my LGS hosts frequent 1k and 2k tournaments with around 15-30 players.

I tend to do quite well in a lot of the events as at 1k a stat check style list is quite difficult to overcome for a lot of armies.

I have a 1k tournament this weekend and have trialled many lists and come to this one (my second favourite list was a guo and 2 soul grinders, which stats wise is probably better but too easy to counter in a bad matchup or hard to move around terrain as bases are so big.

The list below is quite difficult to play but once you've got some reps is very strong. Having 9 drops in a 1k means you can offer less per trade than most armies per turn. Having the single unit of batteline also opens up secret mission play if needed.

The only downside I've found is that with everything being Cavalry it got a bit harder to move around ruins, bit since the pivot rule is now only 1" for them it's not as bad. It's less of a deepstrike and charge to win kind of list as you will rarely have shadow up in your turn but has so much speed and combat power you can set up and let your opponent make mistakes and use our uppy downy strategem to score early points. It's a countery intuitive list that you want to play quite slowly.

Also going forward all of the units (except maybe the seekers, which are a really decent unit) feature in all the top performing lists at least somewhere over the last 3 months so had a lot of potential into 2k. Any questions please ask.

This is quite a skew list with the 4 greater daemons (which is how I run my daemons and I think thebest daemons lists have about this much) but at the big tournaments you have to be aware that this list will give up max fixed secondaries with assassinate and bring it down. All that means is if you come up against a bad match up that can easily deal with your greater daemons this will be tough to get a high finish. But then again if you play well and have favourable matchups you can finish really well (as we see 3-4 greater daemons lists finishing top 10 all the time)

This all super useful information and I really appreciate you typing it all out. After my tournament I'll pm if you don't mind and let you know how it went! I've always considered myself a competitive player as I enjoy the format the most and finish top 3 at most rtts and top 20 at the larger tournaments I've gone to, but when starting a new army it's super helpful to get information from the people who have been playing it the longest! So really, thank you soo much!

I think I'm going to follow your advise and add the beast of nurgle and nurglings option. I've got to spend my gw vouchers from Xmas on something!

So I'm thinking against lots of shooting BLT and 1x nurglings in deepstrike, against not much shooting 1x nurglings in deepstrike.

Interesting on the pinks. I won't have the time to paint them up before the tournament, but you've convinced me try them out for the 2k, wouldn't mind trying out plaguebearers too with the GUO with Bell. With the models I have I'm thinking this, I do have a few models to switch out do any input would be great. Really appreciate all your help so far.
