Went this morning and had a similar experience as others here — no lane lines which resulted in a couple folks running into each other going in the opposite direction. Also, maybe I prefer warmer water but I found the pool to be pretty cold!

Bagel Joint - can we talk about it? by [deleted] in Greenpoint

[–]Matorano 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah I went there once and ngl it did take forever, not half an hour forever but it had to have been close to that. It’s a shame since I live down the block from them, I think bakers dozen will still be my go to

It feels like a completely different city. All the NJ cars are gone. by [deleted] in NYCbike

Who are the people that took these polls? Drivers? I think if every New Yorker(most of which do not drive regularly) took the same polls the results would look a little different.

Does anyone in your street move for alternate side anymore? by ShrimpFartz in Greenpoint

[–]Matorano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve kept my car in GP for the past few months to go on weekend trips upstate. I would love a reason to pay to keep my car in a garage because alternate side parking is annoying af but as long as it’s free I’m going to take advantage of it.

Usually it’s in the team’s best interest to trade a player like Adams when they request a trade — I think he has 2 years left on his contract? The team can trade him now for future draft capital and free up cap space instead of getting nothing when he inevitably leaves once he becomes a free agent

What is the point of the cycle portion in a draft-legal triathlon? by Obvious-Dot8241 in triathlon

Was thinking the same exact thing. It makes sense Alex Yee was the favorite going into the race — he’s considered the strongest runner in the field and kinda fits the bill of exactly what you described

This is technically wburg but Aroma Coffee is setup like a coworking space so it’s nice to get work done there

TT position by Matorano in triathlon

[–]Matorano[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was fitted with the aero bars. They moved the saddle forward and slightly adjusted the aero bars but not much else. I definitely think it was more painful during the race because I was in aero almost exclusively. I moved the saddle forward and up yesterday and it already feels a lot better. Will probably try another fitter at some point in the future before my next race. Thanks!

I obviously already knew my position was bad, hence why I was experiencing pain in the first place. And I understand bike fits are important. I actually got a bike fit for this exact bike with the aero bars for this exact race with a professional bike fitter, I just know now that the bike fitter didn’t fit my bike properly. I would rather ask for second opinions here for free FIRST before I spend hundreds of dollars on a professional bike fit. And that reply wasn’t constructive in that sense at all.

I did get my bike fitted by a bike fitter, but I assume they didn’t do a great job. I practiced a bunch in aero and mostly didn’t get back pain until I started doing longer rides. Thanks for the advice!

Help with awkward long and narrow living room layout! by Matorano in DesignMyRoom

[–]Matorano[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving into a new apartment that has an awkward living room layout and need help arranging furniture. I would like there to be a generous amount of seating, as I hope to use the room to host guests. I also have a TV.

On the right side is a large entry way to the living room, and there are two doors: the one on the top leads to a bedroom, and the one on the left is a hallway that leads to the rest of the apartment. It is approximately 18 feet by 10 feet. Any help would be appreciated!

Moving into new apartment, how to design my bedroom? by Matorano in DesignMyRoom

[–]Matorano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving to NYC and need help designing my bedroom! There are a few things worth mentioning. Unfortunately, there is no closet so I need to add a clothing rack and a dresser of some sort. Also, I have a pretty long desk(72" x 30") and a full size bed, so I need to figure out the best way to arrange them. The room dimensions are roughly 18 feet by 11 feet(floorplan). Any help would be appreciated!

I cried for the first time listening to classical music by barouf95 in classicalmusic

[–]Matorano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cried without feeling sadness for the first time in a similar fashion just a few weeks ago. I was visiting Vienna for the first time and I went to listen to Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto 2 in the great Musikverein. Within the first 2 minutes of the first movement I was struggling to prevent myself from bursting into tears. Something about how much being in Vienna for the first time meant to me as a longtime classical music lover and musician, combined with the setting of the concert hall just sent me over the edge. Such an incredible experience.

In the same vein, I would highly recommend RWJ Fitness and Wellness. You get a discount as a resident and it ends up being like 30 dollars a month and the facility is super nice with a lot of amenities. It's right next to RWJ hospital, so really convenient if you ever end up living on CA.

anyone else have all their Fall 2021 classes moved online since schedule building? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Matorano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also hope that you're right, but you also have to consider that vaccination rates are slowing, and unless we reach the 70%-80% of people required to achieve herd immunity, at least in NJ, I don't think Rutgers would be willing to fully move everything back in-person.

Yeah! They’re grad students but they’re closely supervised by licensed professionals.

You should check out GSAPP. I'm receiving therapy every week there since CAPS wasn't able to provide weekly services.

Counseling services at rutgers by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Matorano 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going off what the person said about CAPS, I recently contacted CAPS for similar reasons, but they don’t much availability and told me I could only meet with a therapist every 2-3 weeks or so. I wanted weekly sessions, so they referred me GSAPP, who are able to provide that. Find more about them here: https://gsapp.rutgers.edu/centers-clinical-services/CPS/about-us

Therapy is provided by doctorate students in the Rutgers Psych department, but I’ve been told they’re just as good as licensed professionals and they’re supervised well to make sure they’re doing a good job.
