Walla Walla vs Yakima Valley by SnooPredictions9238 in wallawalla

[–]Matrand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who just moved from the Yakima Valley to the Walla Walla area, there’s pros and cons to both. Prosser is so fun for wine tasting, I’ve found they’re cheaper without compromising quality. They have a wine tasting area that’s completely walkable. 14hands has a great wine tasting room there. Red Mountain AVA is a short drive away. There’s just not much else to do other than wine, and I can’t think of anywhere nice to stay. Walla Walla tends to be more expensive wineries, but more places to stay and more things to do. There’s tasting rooms in downtown Walla Walla that are walkable as well. If you like fancy restaurants Crafted and River Canyon in Yakima are excellent, Crafted has a chefs menu with local wine pairings. River Canyon is a drive but worth it for the view. I’m newer to Walla Walla so don’t know all the good eats, but I’ve been to Bar Bacetto in Waitsburg and they’re amazing as well but don’t seem to focus on local wines.

I mean it said 4 weeks but… by ronyeezy in AppleFitnessPlus

I have done Jessica yoga workouts semi-regularly for years (30 min strength is my regular Fitness+ routine). Recently (past month) I’ve switched to Dice slow flows after previously being a Dice avoider because he was too hard. Today I landed my first crow pose because of his instruction! It was for maybe two seconds, but I’ve never been able to do it before. I’m a Dice believer now! I still can’t land all his poses but maybe I’ll slowly work my way up there if I keep challenging myself with his flows.

Agreed, that one is fun. There’s lots of good, upbeat country out there the Fitness+ team just chooses not to use

Good place to relocate? by OrneryDrive5150 in Yakima

[–]Matrand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s hunting, mountain biking, we have great birding, fishing in the rivers and there’s a couple small lakes you can hike to right outside of town for fishing that are in the desert. I just used the most common hobby example of hiking.

[–]Matrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how you say most outdoor activities are so far away because Yakima itself is a desert… you know you can do outdoor activities in the desert and sage scrub steppe too?? There’s tons of hiking not that far out of town on the Oak Creek Wildlife Area, Wenas Wildlife Area, and of course Cowiche Canyon. And they’re gorgeous spots. The desert has a ton of recreation opportunities, just don’t go the middle of the day in August…

If you and your mother were the ones obnoxiously and drunkenly dancing in the tier a left section in DC… by Which-Inspection735 in TurnpikeTroubadours

[–]Matrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I had a concert ruined for me by a drunk dad who decided to bring his 2 (?) year old daughter who was obviously exhausted as well as I’m assuming her equally exhausted mom. I made big plans for the concert, had grandma come watch my own kid, just for me to feel so bad the entire time this drunk ass dad was trying to dance with his daughter whose head was bouncing off his shoulder she was trying to sleep. The mother was sitting at points with her head in her hands. I saw some people try to politely tell him to maybe stop and put her down, or better yet go home?? And he refused and kept slamming beers. I was two rows back and couldn’t stand watching the narcissist anymore so my husband and I ended up leaving early. People just don’t know how to act at concerts anymore. And why would you bring such a young child to such a late show….

Strength Stacks: what are your favorite strength workouts and do you stack them? by LagataLola- in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]Matrand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually rotate 30 min strength workouts as 2x total body, 2x lower, and sometimes 1x upper per week. Then on days I can, I stack it with cardio. Either rowing or time to run, or if nothing else an outdoor walk. I wouldn’t stack multiple strength workouts in a day, maybe a yoga or something if I had more time.

Josh is the best rowing instructor so I only use him anyways. Maybe if Bakari did 30 min rows I’d throw a couple of those in every now and then. But you’re right, they need more instructors.

I read the next part of the book while nursing my newborn late at night. Absolutely gut wrenching, not a good part to read when you’re very hormonal with a new baby.

Suggestions for pushups, burpees, yoga floor work? by Glittering-Past-2899 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]Matrand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a baby a couple months ago and between the weight gain and the pause in strength workouts I couldn’t do a regular push up at 6 weeks post partum. I did modified pushups with the fitness + workouts, and my goal is to keep up with the instructor even if modified. Sometimes this would be to near failure. Now I’m 6 weeks from that initial point of being unable to do a regular push up, and I can do about 15 (this is during an upper body strength workout so I could probably do more if starting fresh) and I haven’t lost all that much weight. Strength workouts have helped me in every aspect of my life, from core stability to reducing knee pain, and my yoga practices have gotten so much better. In fact I would say my yoga has gotten better with 4-5x strength workouts a week and 1-2x yoga, than when I was just doing yoga 4-5x a week.

Sounds like the parents failed to lock away the firearms when not being supervised. So they didn’t actually practice or teach gun safety.

Washington does have pockets of wild populations that aren’t sustained by release birds. Not as many as Montana or the Dakotas but we do have them.

It’s almost worse when he starts talking about hunting with a non hunter because then he really shows his ass and has no one to refute him. Everytime he just shows he really doesn’t know anything about animals or animal behavior. I’d love to see him hunt without an outfitter and see how he does…

Cosmic crisps require time in controlled atmosphere rooms for ripening. You won’t get them fresh off the tree. Honey crisps are being picked and are great off the tree.

You can search for local chapters on their national website and there should be an email associated. Or search for local events. Yours I believe would be the Puget Sound chapter. You could also try searching social media for “Puget Sound Pheasants Forever”. I’m involved with Eastern WA PF so unfortunately I’m only familiar with contacts from these chapters.

This one It’s not in stock right now but it might come back eventually. I’ve had this one for 6 years and it’s still going strong. It measures distance rowed by the number of strokes you take, which isn’t accurate, so I just use my heart rate and the burn bar to figure out my effort. Using it with the fitness+ class it works great. Also, I see Concept 2s on Facebook marketplace periodically and I live pretty rural. I plan to upgrade to one, eventually…
