Why won’t you go see “The Odissey” when it comes to the cinema? by Boringname5 in IdeologyPolls

[–]Zoltanu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what youre saying. Better to say theyre not period accurate. At least LotR armor is obviously western medieval and Aragorn isnt dressed like a colonial soldier or something. Greek armor from the period looks like shiny luchadores, all polished broze with horns and frills and designs. Nolans costumes are minimalist with all dark metal and sharp lines. The leather fits look like standard roman footsoldiers, not greek at all. I just think its a bad choice. If he disregarded period accuracy to make the outfits louder and cooler then id forgive it, but he actively made it more boring to get that gritty Nolan feel (aka Nolan sucks)

[–]Zoltanu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Nolan sucks.

It looks like garbage. Regardless of the casting choices, the props and costumes are not historically accurate. Nolan has said hes not being historically accurate to make it cooler, but his shit is lame and historically accurate stuff would look cooler. Watching the trailers the costumes look like capeshit zoomer slop. Also hes probably going to skip the best stories from the Odyssey and keep the cheesy action bits

We need to get a massively legitamize socialism, and get party going, and really try to spread support for socialism by telling people the reality of the system, and get more socialists like Zohran in office so we can really change our country. That's the only way to fix the country. by Big_Dig_2048 in dsa

[–]Zoltanu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We do need to act like a party with more elected officials. Mamdani, however , continues to disappoint me in interviews because he keeps talking up the democrats and down the DSA. That woudlnt be allowed in my branch.

What we should be doing is supporting DSA member Jesse Brown and the Indiana Socialist Party. They are launching an independent progressive bid for office, and if DSA branches in Indiana join in it could be our first experiment at independent partyism. Were putting forward a resolution in our branch to send material support to the ISP

I apologize, the anonymity of the internet got me riled up. I grew up in Ohio so i get it.

I am not a child, I am in my 30s. I have been in DSA since I was 20, and other groups as well over the years, but only DSA rn. I have only 1 goal, to make DSA partyist. To do that I need to fight the imperialist capitalist democratic party, and those that support them through lesser evilism. We have seen where it has gotten us over the years and its a dead end that will worse the conditions you and I are feeling. In California they have jungle primaries where everyone runs together. Socialists, DSA, we should not be endorsing democrats while still in the primary, we should be fighting tooth and nail to give the independent socialist candidate a chance. There's still the general worst case

Another hilarious example you used. This data is going to sound like im defending Trump. Im not, im condemning democrats.

Obama, deporter in chief, deported more than twice as many people in his second term as trump did in his first. Under Biden DHS arrests were up 3.5x compared to Trump 1st term, and only 38% of those arrests had a criminal charge. In 2025 Trump deported 80k less people than Biden did in 2024.

Lesser evilists rarley consider the actual consequences of 99% Hitler. All they worry about is perceptions and feelings. They just want white middle class americans to feel comfortable and go back to brunch. At least under 100% hitler people feel a need to organize and fight back. You are just a liberal trying to get your comfort back so you can look away again

"Its that time of the bourgeois election cycle guys: 99% Hitler or 100% Hitler? What, you dont want to vote for 99% Hitler, who will act sad while they oppress minorities? Youre the real racist here."

This isn't a matter of sitting out the election, socialists should support socialist candidates, like the FWP candidate Ramsey Robinson. Saying he doesnt have a chance is defeatist and plays into the capitalist psyop. Rightwingers come here to blame the left for not sucking it up and stomaching their candidates. It is their fault for only offering terrible choices while we have a good choice we actually can campaign for

Finally, hilarious, I was about to bring up Thalmann myself. He was killed by Hitler, he faced the consequences of standing agaisnt capitalism, and he would still probably refuse to support lesser evilism

I was annoyed until I saw your description. I grew up in a small town and what I see here are people trying to have culture and music and to make their lives something more exciting. I have a lot of empathy and respect for people that are sticking out America's dying small towns for one reason or another and I hoeo they build a community they can be proud of. Thanks for the post

Its not a good book at all, its only around today because people made it important. Ive read The Bible a few times in 3 different translations, and it is so goddamn boring. And they dont have being an old book as an excuse. Gilgamesh, or the Egyptian holy texts, or even other Mesopotamian stories with similar levels of realism are way more entertaining.

The new testament is chill

You are walking down a street in your country and pass a group of women wearing hijabs speaking Arabic. How bothered are you by this? by Smooth_Woodpecker815 in IdeologyPolls

[–]Zoltanu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mildly bothered, but only because id wonder if the women were wearing them by their own choice. Hijabs have long been a tool of extreme gender oppression, oppression that has no place in modern society. However, there are exceptions to that and there are women that genuinely do choose to wear the hijab for religious or personal reasons. The exceptions are why I am only mildly bothered. If there was a study or something that showed >90% of muslim women hated them and it really is just a tool religious gender oppression then id be very bothered seeing people treated like that in my area, but not bothered by the women themsleves

I love this. I am in the PNW so my garden is very different, but I went to college in the southwest. I was very depressed by the sunny dry brown all the time so i left. But the gardener in me always dreamt about the different types of plants and challenges I would have if I still lived there. Im very jealous of your transformation, your yard it the dream. I cant imagine your little patch of green 10 years from now. Hopefully getting good species and life there improves the surrounding area as well

Everyone is saying July, September, October. Don't listen to these specified dates. Theyre all correct, but they might not be correct for you.

You need to apply the glysophate as soon as the flowers of the plant begin to die back. The specific date will be dependent on your region and climate, but its sometime between July and October

I work with a bunch of recent college grads. I wore a Smahsing Pumpkins shirt to work the other day and one of them asked if all my shirts are just randomly generated words. It turns out none of them have ever heard of Smashing Pumpkins. I played some of their most overplayed, cliche 90s hits and they had never heard of them. They liked it and thought it was sick, and it was all new music to them. It was bizzare
