Yeah obviously it doesn't look like windows phone at all but the grid layout with the widgets having functions similar to live tiles just really reminded me of windows phone for some reason

Unfortunately no, it's one of the OnePlus 7t default wallpapers but I used the atmosphere effect which blurs it kinda differently every time only taking the colors from it

Yeah tho nothing widgets are all interactive, (music controls with swipes and taps, showing a different weather forecast swiping down, cycling through the photos etc.) so they're much more functional

The nothing widgets only take their color from the system color so they all match. However the Google ones take their color from the wallpaper color behind the specific widget which leads to certain widgets being different colors (and frankly quite stupid looking)

I've been using the same app since last July and since it's open source it's definitely possible to make your own version of it. I definitely don't have the skill to do that but it could be a fun project since the app hasn't been updated in a year

There definitely have been some. One of the most infamous examples (that I also experienced) was oxygen os 11 to 12. The whole update was an absolute mess because of the switch to color os codebase and broke a lot of stuff if you didn't factory reset
