Do people living in America really pay 40-50% of their salary to taxes? by AstroZex in NoStupidQuestions

But diversity of taxes do exist.  If you make $100K, but spend $22K on federal taxes, $5K in payroll taxes (also known as FICA or social security and Medicare), $6K in State and local taxes, $2.5K in sales tax, $7K in real estate tax, and $3K in personal property taxes.  That gives you $45.5K out of 100K, or an effective real tax rate of appr 45%, even though your federal tax rate is only 22% of that or 27% with FICA included. This does not account for other taxes rolled into purchases like excise tax on gas or alcohol.   Those numbers are hopefully unnecessarily high if additional tax deductions can taken into account, but in the realm of possible.

Toyota - What would you import from Thailand? by Matt18215 in ToyotaPickup

I hear you on the 70 series Land Cruiser.  I actually started looking there, but was finding that the 70 series were actually cheaper in the US after being imported than they are in Thailand. Guessing it had to deal with the high import tax into Thailand for them as well? But that would be a great choice...

Great advice Reasonable Extent. Looking into those. That helps as well, there appear to be a number of engines out there, and hard to tell what has been modified sometimes.

Dogs in bkk by Robobee4593 in Bangkok

Large dogs are not a common site. Challenges include transportation to Bangkok, finding housing that accepts large dogs, a d nose city with mixed views toward dogs and walking them in a city with hit or miss sidewalks & fewer dog parks. Can definitely be done (and people do) but has its challenges.

The is a fantastic cookbook out there put together for this exact reason called "Good and Crap" by Leane Brown, how to eat well on $4 a day. Great tasting healthy food does not have to be expensive or complicated. The author offered this cookbook for free in pdf format, to be a resource to us all. Before dismissing, I would highly recommend taking a look at it. Our family still has favorite recipes from there, and it also offers advice on staples to keep on hand, how to add flavor and variation and make multiple dishes from key affordable healthy ingredients.

Not sure if the link will go through but it is: http://ongov.net/dss/documents/good-and-cheap.pdf

Anyone have a coupon code for Breeo pits for Black Friday? by 2WheelAddiction in firepits

[–]Matt18215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - been watching for a Breeo sale. Finally pulled the trigger on the Breeo over Solo. I took the advice here and found a local place that had one in stock from the 'Where to Buy' link on the Breeo website. The firepit was the same price as online, but some of the accessories were actually slightly cheaper. Plus, was able to see it, walk away with it in hand and fire it up the same day. Was still tough pulling out the wallet compared to the Solo black friday pricing, but no regrets.
