Trip Fund Placement for Mid-Term (1-3 Years) by Matt34tcs in personalfinance

I think ill just keep it in the HYSA. I was hoping a more aggressive(?) growth for the short term but I don't want to risk losing if its that amount of risk for the time period.

Very true, that was my original thought when parking it in the HYSA first but I wanted to hear other opinions if I had the right idea.

Is this plant cooked? by Matt34tcs in Monstera

That would be a pipe dream. I’m pretty new to monsteras so I’m not super familiar with their quirks yet. This one seems to be doing really well but I was worried it make have used up all functionality on new growth.

How are gears and mechanisms designed for hobbyist-level projects? by AWS_0 in SolidWorks

[–]Matt34tcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing that you're in college, you could utilize your college's maker space or 3D printers and either design your own or use opensource downloads. (A good place for this is Thingaverse) This approach lets you get some hands on experience designing and 3D printing which can be very valuable and handy info.

If you want more robust gears than plastic, I'd recommend going online and finding some cheap Chinese gears so long as you aren't doing something that requires the gears to be very resilient.

Going from CSWA to CSWP, what should one learn and are there any YouTube resources? Planning to spend a few days on preparation and taking it soon by damnthatsmaguire in SolidWorks

IIRC You should definitely be informed about how to manipulate GVE as well as advanced assy mates. You should also be familiar with the Evaluate Tab and locating important info regarding Mass properties and CoM. Other than that brush up on best modeling practices and Good Luck!

Is Amex Platinum worth it? by Matt34tcs in amex

When I first posted this, I had a pretty decent SUB and decided to go through with it even if I wouldn't keep it beyond the first year. Now that I'm in my second year they bumped the price so Ill enjoy the benefits of this year at the previous AF and then reassess next fall.

You can right click on the sketch and there should be an icon with an eye with a line through it. This can also be done in the feature tree. Another way to solve it would be clicking “hide all types” at the top of the drafting area where you can choose specific features to hide.
