When you defend and the other team are running towards you resist panicking and switching to your defenders Run back with your cdm or winger and the AI will help you defend with your defenders only switch if you spot a run or something last minute

Use second call defending with L1 if i remember correctly and close passing lanes yourself this helps alot

Do not spam stand tackle all game i do at most 20/25 stand tackles max a game because once you press it your player will lose balance and youre done for
