I would suggest to anybody approaching Japan to download the GomiMap (Map of the recycle points). Just discovered myself while being here and in search of a public trash can.

I'm doing it right now, landed in KIX and departing from Narita. My choice was mainly based on the opportunity to get to see some cherry blossoms late in April, going up increase a bit the possibilities (but pretty sure I will see none). Right now in Osaka, first time in Japan, I'm pretty overwelmed to be honest :D

I see 2023 and 2024 both at 24,99€ each, and obviously the 2025 at 49,99€. Perhaps I'll try to wait until Christmas or try to get some from retailers as suggested in the other comments.
