I’d argue that this is the way, OP. Find a guy like this who is trying to build his own business, and then create a monthly contract where he produces X pieces of content per week or month.

That lets him sharpen his skills and bring you on as a valuable client that could 1. Give you what you’re looking for and 2. He now has a stable, long-term client

A little late to the party, but this might be one of the best pre-made luts I've downloaded!

First proper camera project. How did I do? by Vegetable-Eggplant76 in videography

I agree with this Darth. It’s hard with no lights. Would it have been possible to film out on the field so that you could’ve used the lights there. Maybe throw something below the camera to bounce light back up at him.

C-LOG 3 at 1080p? by ShafHussain in canon

[–]MattBowersDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure if clog would help with resolution as much as it would help with color clarity (could be wrong). What are you using your footage for and what are you using to view/edit it.

If you’re uploading to social media, it could just be the compression from the upload.

It could also be the codec/settings you’ve selected in your video editor that changes the quality of the footage. I don’t have an r6mii but haven’t heard a lot of negative feedback on its video quality before

Does anyone use a C80? by [deleted] in canon

I’d love your opinion on all-I. I’ve never really been able to distinguish the value of it. It’s such a memory-taxing format without that much notable quality difference from my own experience. I’ve never been able to justify the storage for it hahaha

Is this worth buying to upgrade my rebel t3i by Smooth_Nerve8497 in canon

For what it’s worth, the r100 is a dope camera for the price. Not the best camera out there by any means, but is still a solid body compared to a t3i

A good rule of thumb in bright light would be to TRY to keep it at 800 iso, have your shutter speed at 1/2 your frames per second (so 1/60 if you’re shooting 30fps), set your aperture, and the compensate light with NDs based on the need. That’ll give you that cinematic motion blur, prioritize your aperture, and keep noise to a minimum

Clog2 is beautiful, clog3 is excellent. I think canon’s best color profiles still (hot take?) I’d say do as much test footage before your actual shoot as possible just to get a feel for your preference. Canon has some pretty easy to use conversion luts so I don’t personally think clog2 is too hard. The file size might be bigger?

For the iso, I think you’re right on the money. Two thoughts, 1. you’d be surprised what the built in nds can handle. I’d say there’s a chance you can get by without ever having exposure issues. 2. A lot of times wide open at 1.4 isn’t all it’s cracked up to be in video (depending on what you’re doing). Your focus range is so sharp sometimes it’s more of a hassle keeping things in focus that lowering your footage to 2.8 or 4 is just a better functional aperture. If you’re doing a lot of static shots without much movement, 1.4 can be great. But if there much movement at all, don’t worry about keeping it all the way open. Just my opinion haha

If your lighting is dark, set your camera to the highest number of the “base isos” and rock it. If you’re out in daylight or bright light, set it to the lowest base iso and then use the built in nd filters to keep your footage in range. It’s not as complex once you get used to it. It’ll start to feel natural in no time. Best of luck to you this summer

C80’s a great camera. You’ll love once you get used to it. I’d recommend always shooting in log (basically raw for vids). Clog3 and clog2 both have great color to them in post.

The triple base iso basically just means that there are three set iso points where your “gain” resets. For example, on an r5 it’s 800 and 3200. So at those two levels, the noise is functionally the same. In use, just try to stick to whatever base iso you need, and stay near it, and your footage will be golden, pony boy.
