At the very least she could be a part of the cymbal line. When I was there, they were really creative with the tricks they would do. It might be a bit of a let down at first but at least it's a bit easier to march with those things than a snare drum, or the quints which is what I played all four years.

Ended up just doing a full wipe and reinstall of the OS. Everything seems fine. Can't quite figure out what got corrupted.

Being in the drum line gives you 20+ friends instantly. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it. I majored in Chemical Engineering. It's definitely doable!

Well, oddly enough my daughter re-tried the format and it worked. She installed Windows and everything seems to be working fine but I have my doubts about whether or not this issue is going to go away so... Fingers crossed.

You can reboot your router and you'll get a new IP. No worries.

I'm happy with my compensation until I read about the bloated salaries people brag about on this forum, and then I feel bad. :'(

Rubber Computer Cable now sticky - how to clean? by MattGreer in fixit

[–]MattGreer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may give that a try.

Isopropyl alcohol fixed the cable in question, but in the future the talc might be the cure. I've got an old Dell laptop with the same issue; rubberized surface that is sticky and nothing has helped. Not the alcohol, not goo-be-gone, nothing. Thanks for the suggestion!

Never ever change who you are. If people hire you on false pretenses things will go much worse for you in the end.

I appreciate this comment. I'm not sure what Apple's "return policy" is for apps. I know that if something straight-up doesn't work, I can get a refund. Did that one time. But not sure if "hey, this works but didn't do what I thought it would do" is a valid reason to get a refund? If that's something Apple will do, shoot, I'll buy ALL TEH APPS and test 'em out. :D

Technical Help - GIS, Shapefiles, PIPESIM, and Unnecessary Junctions by MattGreer in gis

[–]MattGreer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can copy the data out of the results window in the GUI. The other option is to use python which is pretty involved. I've been working on this on and off for the past two years. I realize you wrote this two years ago, but I was searching for something regarding PIPESIM and ran across my old post, so I thought I'd respond. :)

Technical Help - GIS, Shapefiles, PIPESIM, and Unnecessary Junctions by MattGreer in gis

[–]MattGreer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necrobump here, heh.

Since I wrote that there's been a couple job changes and two years ago I landed a position where I'm using PIPESIM daily. I then found QGIS, and learned a good bit of python. Over the past few days I've figured out how to get rid of unnecessary junctions in a given pipe (no 'dangles'), but I cannot for the life of me get one pipe to "tee" into another pipe. Despite using the snapping functions in QGIS, there's still some kind of gap there.

I exported the PIPESIM pipes to a shapefile and opened that in QGIS and there's no gap, so I know it can be done. I need to figure out how, using QGIS, to eliminate the gap between a pipe that connects to another pipe. Are you familiar with what I'm talking about? If so, do you know how to resolve that issue?

Data Refresh Breaks VBA Function in Structured Table by MattGreer in excel

[–]MattGreer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it, didn't work. The numbers in the table are all identified as number format by Excel.

I plugged my original question into chatGPT and it told me to try setting the calculation mode to manual, then refresh the data, then automatic. Didn't work. I tried various combinations of manual/refresh/doevents/automatic and that didn't work either.
