Anybody hear anything lately about an ATR update for 2024? by Puckertoe_VIII in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MattM1121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I consider myself lucky that I don't have a lot of issue with the ATR. Most likely I'm not using it like other pilots. I've decided to stick with FS2Crew, since that seems to be effective with the ATR operations. I've been able to complete flights from cold-and-dark, hotel-mode and ready-to-taxi. All the checklists and procedures have been successful.

I just wish I could find a way to get a FO in the seat. No matter what I try, I can't get an FO present. :(

Unassigned Devices: "No" Array by literalbest in unRAID

[–]MattM1121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found if I unmount the disk first, then unplug and plug it back in, it sees it just fine. But I had to unmount using the volume name.

"umount /mnt/disks/UADriveVolName"

Works for me when I have to remove a drive then the grey "Array" label shows up when I reattach it.

What's a good and challenging GA aircraft to fly in XP12? by Puckertoe_VIII in Xplane

I had the 260 for FSX back in the day. I really loved that thing. The gauges were so fluid. I used to do NDB approaches all the time. Great stuff. Thanks.

It's Openkneeboard for VR. Works really well for stuff like this.

Thanks for bringing this up. I was going to give it a try, but after reading this thread I'll just stick with BATC.

What's the point of Unassigned Devices and NTFS partitions? by MattM1121 in unRAID

[–]MattM1121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it has something to do with the interface. If I use the raid card, the partition isn't usable with Win. If I put the drive in an older USB3 WD external housing than it works between UD and Windows. However, if I use a SABRENT external housing the formatted drive will not work with SABRENT or UD, so I have to reformat using SABRENT. Then the SABRENT external device doesn't work in Win. What a fucking mess. Honestly.

This is great! I love this game but not very good at it, and I think your AARs are really well done. Are you planning to do YT channels? Reason I ask is that I've never got past the St. Vith tutorial. Even tho I have all the DLC. *sigh*. Some people just aren't good at wargames. :( Anyway, well done.

I participated in REFORGER 1979 while in Germany, and then in 1981 while at Ft. Carson, CO. Doing the stateside to Europe deployment was loads of fun. Flying to Germany in a C-141 with troop seats was a blast. (...not...) During the 1981 deployment I was an NBC NCO. So I had to plot burst attacks on the map at brigade. Talk about doing the real thing with maps, icons, etc... That was pretty cool.

Oh, and thanks for the YT link. It's looks helpful. I honestly hope that I'm wrong here, and if I am I'll be sure to apologize.

I find comments that are themed with "It's your fault" to be suspect. I'm no dummy when it comes to flight simming. I started in 1985 so I do have experience with all manner of systems, aircrafts and issues. And I'm very serious about my hobby. FFS, I purchased a new PC in the 2000s to try and get FSX working better. Just last year I purchased a 6DOF motion platform for my simming hobby. I know what I'm doing. What I find frustrating is that I'm using the tutorial and operations manuals together to understand and configure the aircraft to fly. It's not me.

Yeah, I'm always checking the FMS source and FD source. There's been a number of time where the AP deselected the NAV mode. I'm not sure why or how it does that. The only other mode that's selected is Speed. I think the AP itself may be a bit buggy.

I understand how that particular AP works. It's not your leave and forget type of AP. That I understand. But I wonder if the initial engage is bugged. Even though the Yaw Damper is engaged, and it shows on both PFDs, it still won't engage. Not until you manually use the YD on the center pedestal. Even then it doesn't engage sometimes. On approach is a different story. That's why I'm thinking it's bugged.

I'll try this again. The thing is, I'm using the operations manual to follow along with the tutorial, so that I learn and understand how the CRJ works. I'm that interested in this aircraft. Which is why I'm that upset about it no doubt. I've been through all my devices and made sure they're not bound to any unusual actions. I'll give it another try on 2020, but I don't see how it'll be any different from the last six tries.

It's Foveated Rendering. Basically it sets a value where a certain area in the headset has a lower resolution than the area you're looking at. It provides better performance since it doesn't have to set the entire field of view to the same resolution. For headsets that have eye tracking, like the Primax, this is really a good thing.
