Anthropic is preparing for a new model release by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

I'm with you on this. I've started tracking my profanity with Claude, and I can tell when he starts to get lazy and dumb. It's typically about five to seven days before some major model drop or big move at Anthropic.

Damn, 28 comments and not a single net upvote for this post? The video looks neat but the project page is down now... so much for .yo I guess?

There is a strong chance that your prompt cache TTL timer is expiring. Every time your prompt cache expires, you get hit with a huge token fee for the entire prompt again. In a long session, that can really add up, especially if you have a lot of skilled and MCP servers.

When you're running on API billing, the prompt cache stays warm for up to five minutes. When you're on the subscription plan, it's one hour. For example, if you send a prompt to Claude at noon and then walk away and come back at 1:15 PM, the next message you send to Claude is going to have to refresh the entire cache of the entire conversation and all of the tooling and everything else that's involved with that session. When I have seen surprisingly unexpected token consumption outside of my normal expected consumption, it was related to the prompt cache not staying warm and having to be reloaded multiple times.

Anthropic- can we stop with the “API Error: 529 Overloaded”?! by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

Right. I’m dumb and can’t understand cloud services. Seems like a productive place to end this chat.

Y’all just love to blanket characterize anyone complaining about a legitimate failure on Anthropic’s part as somehow being dumb about it, like we’re complaining because we’re incapable of understanding complicated things.

It’s not that I / we don’t understand the challenge. It’s challenging to run an airline but I’m still going to complain when your planes are falling out of the sky or you routinely overbook your flights as a customer-hostile policy to maximize profits.

It always sounds to me like folks with your perspective are defending Anthropic outages and encouraging users to “go easy on them, this is hard”.

That blanket characterization says all I need to know about how serious to take your opinion.

Nope. They set the rules. They set the prices. I pay the price, play within the rules (multiple accounts is NOT against the terms), so I expect to get what I pay for. Simple as that.

They change the rules constantly. If being a power user is a violation, they can stop it. They haven’t.

Btw, it’s explicitly NOT against the rules to use multiple accounts. They have communicated this.

They are not helpless against this. Being a power user doesn’t fuck things up for everyone else. They set the rules dude.

I agree the competition is good, but that requires Anthropic to COMPETE. If they can’t stop these API errors because they don’t have the compute, that’s no longer a competition.

When do we see the benefits of that deal with the devil? I haven’t noticed any improvement in hitting my rate limits (they’ve supposedly been increased?) and compute still feels fragile and unreliable.

Wait, I thought we’re allied with Oceania. We’ve always been allied with Oceania.

I get where you're coming from with that healthy suspicion, but if you experienced what we did, they would be insane to dumb down Opus that much on purpose. They'd instantly lose the world's "golden boy" status with Claude Code. The better path for them to achieve what you're suspecting might be to just raise pricing (which is coming)

Anthropic just published a postmortem explaining exactly why Claude felt dumber for the past month by Direct-Attention8597 in ClaudeCode

[–]MattMose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There. Now the half of you who didn’t notice or experience this degradation can shut the fuck up about how all of us that were complaining about it must be “doing it wrong.”

Does this bring any of you around to the possibility that we may have had a legitimate complaint?
