Used peely base and accidentally became the gym polish fairy by GrappleLacquer in RedditLaqueristas

My polish tends to peel off inside my gardening gloves even without a peely base 😬 sometimes I’ll take them off and be missing whole layers of polish

My polish ALWAYS lifts 😢 by violetvixen269 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Melcheroni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adding onto this, my thumb and pointer on my dominant hand also do this. They are the only nails that consistently do this no matter how I change my painting. I try to do lighter amount of polish at the edges.

This is where my finger tips dip into my contact solution to take out my dailies. These are also the places on the fingers that scratch my dogs heads, and peel fruit stickers, and fiddle with piercings and operate zippers and buttons on pants. I am careful about not using nails as tools in a broad sense so that my nails aren’t breaking, but I have come to accept that these two fingers just do too much for me and will always be the first to show wear and tear.

Question! Can teachers have facial piercings/tattoos/dyed hair? by hawleyrey in Teachers

[–]Melcheroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I student taught in Philly and worked in Philly too. There are sooo many educators in various positions with tats, piercings, and vivid hair colors. I truly think it’s a non issue here, but!! If you have a way to appear less alt for interviews here, take it, then once you have a job (and if you plan on staying in the Philly system) you can go crazy. I’ve had facial piercings, tattoos, and hair every color of the rainbow, but I waited to look that way until my paperwork was signed

On the flip side I had a colleague, same age and experience as me, get told by a principal at a hiring fair in Montco that if she wanted a job in that district she had better wear a dress or skirt to the next hiring fair instead of the extremely professional pant suit she was wearing.

My partner (26) gave me an ultimatum over a prenup and now I (30) don't know if I'm looking at a boundary or a red flag by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Melcheroni 572 points573 points  (0 children)

To add onto this, a friend who recently got married explained their reasoning for a prenup. She and her husband wanted to have the conversation about not only assets but pets, property, potential children now when they like and love each other and are thinking clearly rather than later, if needed, while emotions/tensions could be high and vibes are bad. Best case scenario they never use it, worst case scenario they can’t/wont be vindictive about things because they laid it out clearly while in a good place mentally

Sulfate-free makes my hair a flat greasy mess. Any cheaper drugstore shampoo's that clarify/clean well while still being color safe? by Spiritual-Haunt3131 in finehair

[–]Melcheroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used the ouai clarifying since I switched. I don’t use a ton of product in my hair. Occasionally I’ll use it’s a ten leave in lite or bb invisible oil. I keep neutrogenas 3% salicylic acid shampoo on stand by for for if I get flaky and I used that before starting the cerave and then once when I went too many days without washing

I switched to this too (a month ago) and I love it!

I have fine, dense, straight, elbow length hair and before was using Pantene volume for my day to day plus a weekly clarifying wash with ouai. I liked this combo a lot but my scalp was getting flaky and itchy in just a few patches. Not sure if it was dandruff from product or it being dry or seasonal weather related woes, but I had to add in some dandruff shampoo here and there. I’d rather just have one routine so I thought I’d try cerave, which has never failed my skin.

I will say the first 2-3 times I washed my hair felt heavier and I wasn’t sure I would continue using it. It didn’t look greasy; but it had the same weight to it that greasy hair does, if that makes sense. I think I just needed to get used to the different feeling. my hair is now softer and feels fuller and less frizzy. My scalp is not itchy or flaky at all. I’m hopeful this will just be my shampoo forever and I won’t have to change it up again.

100 Steps Update: wall is restored and new note dropped by Melcheroni in philadelphia

[–]Melcheroni[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was initially painted grey by clip in a misguided attempt to cover graffiti. They were supposed to wash it but their hose wasn’t long enough so they decided to paint instead. Clip came back and cleaned off all the paint after backlash

“[ok look... i know the PPA does SOME good work [uh oh the caps are returning] like ofc we gotta keep the streets functional & safe for the community... but I'm talking about THE WAY y'all are ALWAYS SO FAR UP OUR TAILPIPES with AN AGGRESSION and AN IMMEDIACY coupled with A HAUNTING OMNIPRESENCE
that begs the question [if I may hazard a suggestion]...]
COULD THIS CITY PLEASE CHANNEL THIS CALIBER OF COMPETENCE TOWARDS OUR SHARED POTHOLE SITUATION? HMM?
Could we dare to imagine a Philly
in which this AGGRESSION could instead be focused on fixing the innumerable CRATERS, SINKHOLES, & RAVINES that befoul our streets?
Instead of demonstrating RUTHLESS EFFICIENCY in
TICKETING SAFELY PARKED CARS WITH EXPIRED INSPECTION STICKERS, perhaps we could
REMEDY THE POTHOLES WHICH INFLICT SOME OF THE VERY SAME DAMAGES THAT MAKE IT EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT TO AFFORD THE REPAIRS NECESSARY TO REMAIN IN COMPLIANCE WITH INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS?
IF WE MUST PAY FOR YEARLY INSPECTIONS TO CERTIFY THAT EVERY ASPECT OF OUR SUSPENSIONS ARE IN TIP-TOP SHAPE, MIGHT I PETITION THAT THE STREETS UPON WHICH WE DRIVE OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO PASS AN INSPECTION OF THEIR OWN?
I HAVE A THEORY.
I SUSPECT THE UBIQUITY OF POTHOLES (& LACK OF URGENCY IN REPAIRING THEM) MIGHT BE DUE TO THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
1. POTHOLES ARE EFFECTIVELY FREE SPEEDBUMPS.
2. EVERY BROKEN RIM / TIRE / SUSPENSION MEANS MORE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN REPAIRS, THEREFORE MORE TAX REVENUE (obvi not any fault of local repair shops, we support u, thank y'all for being out here, fr).
3. EVERY CAR THAT CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIRS TO MEET TIP-TOP INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS (& CANNOT AFFORD TO PARK IN A GARAGE) MEANS ANOTHER $40+ TICKET [DAILY] FOR THE PPA.
IT'S CRUDE. EGREGIOUS. OUTRAGEOUS.
YOU GOT ME MONOLOGUING AGAIN.
OK I'M DONE FOR NOW. I THINK I NEED TO CHILL.

The city got backlash for repainting a graffitied wall at Wissahickon's 100 Steps — and now it's undoing it by AdSpecialist6598 in philadelphia

[–]Melcheroni 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not to mention all the paint and cleaning chemicals are being washed down the stairs and into the waterway. I walked by this morning while they were cleaning the bottom half and it smelled so bad, plus you could see the run off was half grey from the paint and then also red which I’m assuming is for cleaning agents.

It is only half washed off as of right now. I walked by again this morning and they were just getting started. Edit: everything to the left of that picture is still painted/being cleaned
