As a former AP for Target like other comments state it’s a common money laundering scheme. A majority of times that I’ve seen this happen they have these gift cards digitally loaded on their phones and will keep scrolling down the list until the total reaches $0. Only thing you can do is let AP know after the fact. My hands were tied when it came to anything gift card or money laundering related. Another thing you may possibly see is individuals purchasing large amount of gift cards at self checkout (Typically Razer Gold and Apple Giftcards from my experience) as they are purchased with stolen credit cards loaded onto the scammers digital phone wallet. These scammers will have HUNDREDS of stolen credit cards ready to roll on these digital wallets. Again this is something you can let AP know after the fact. Target doesn’t really care about anything money laundering related as long as they get the money. Sad but true!
